Channel 7 just aired footage of a big white pointer menacing three kayakers at Fishermans Beach on the north side of Long Reef (Near Collaroy) today. Hard to tell how big it was but at least three metres I'd guess. About 10 of us were kiting just north of there in light winds today before the storm hit. No sign of anything untoward where we were.
The news footage appears to have been taken by one of the fishermen in a tinny that came to the assistance of the kayakers, one if the kayakers was knocked into the water by the shark but not attacked. All the kayaks then gathered around the tinny but the shark kept going at them for a few minutes before swimming off. Pretty amazing footage.
Sure to be a repeat of the story on the Seven news later tonight.
Bugger, I always miss the good stuff. 1st the whales, then the dolphins and now the bloody great white.
I guess I'll continue to save for my caged experience (www.rodneyfox.com.au)
Did it go in the bay area or stay out? was it low or high tide? is it still full of blue bottles?
