I have been riding old C kites for about 4 years now and just bought a new SLE , it has heaps of grunt bigger wind range and looks hot. Call me old fashioned but my old C kites are still very enjoyable to ride, I know they aren’t as safe but people seem to bag old C kites all the time.
Maybe one- day old C kites will be like classic old cars, heavy, under powered, hard to find parts, but worth more than an average mortgage! Or not.
Call ME old fashioned, I have been riding old C kites for about 4 years now and HAVEN'T bought a new SLE, or bow for that matter.
I did buy a couple of 07 Slingshot Fuels last year though .
I expect I'll jump on the SLE bandwagon eventually, just have to wear these kites out first.

I think the truth is that it is a few old "C" kite riders that bag Bows and SLE most of the time !
Look at the recent posts here:
"Too many kiters" (because Bows make it too easy!)
"riding skills disapearing" (because Bows make it too easy!)
If you like the C feel,great. There are those,like me,and I think a vast majority,that prefer Bows and SLE's.
Don't want to start anything here, but a C kite is like a Holden Kingswood.
A Bow is like a Suburu WRX ![}:)]
Glad c-kites are still out there, 2008 ones are definetly worth a try, and yes I have owned hybrids/SLE but am now back on c-kites.
User you have the analogy the wrong way round

I had a $10000 bicycle last year and loved riding it. I sold it and now ride a $300 1990 bicycle and love riding it. I am still the same rider and still love cycling.
I can safely say the same for Longboarding or shortboarding, bow or C kites and so on. Just enjoy whatever you are riding and feel priveleged to be able to do so. Plenty of people out there in wheelchairs, handicapped and disabled who would kill just to be in the water... hopefully makes you think :)
Call me old fashioned but I have a pair of super stylin pair of op shop lime green flared slacks in the cupboard that I save for special occassions
I also ride 2005 C 5th lines and keep buying lotto tickets. One day i will go the hybris/bow way but not until a bargain comes along.
Not that I am suggesting I am the biz but I have noticed that my 9m C outpaces (upwind and speed) heaps of similar sized bows/hybrids when it is honking??
Boosts on a 2005 Yarga? Fkn huge thanks for asking!!!
Good kites - you betcha! $700 for a 9m and 13m with bar n lines last year virtually new.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ... $2k for one kite... suckers!!!
Can't wait to try my lime slacks over my wetty in winter
