Can I kitesuf in POZO ?

I go to Grand Canaria for kitesurfing and looking for a hardcore spot.

Yes but it’s not particularly good.

I was working there back in May so took a few days off in Pozo. Hired some kit from a local shop but only managed to get out for 1 session on 8m and surfboard.

Kites are meant to be further round the coast from the main windsurfing beach. I launched from the kite beach, went up wind to the windsurf beach and played in the small beach break waves. I was the only kiter out with a handful of windsurfers. Big pebbles on the beach make it real dodgy trying to walk over which I don’t mind if it’s in pursuit of a nice wave but it certainly isn’t or wasn’t when I was there.

In their summer the wind is usually strong and reliable hence it makes sense to hold the windsurfing competition there but I wouldn’t go there for kiting. Fuerteventura, Lanzarote or Tenerife (in that order) are better options.

If you stuff up on the beach get ready to release the kite with those wind turbines behind
