For those who are complaining about getting cold kitesurfing in Australia...
Here's a post session pic from a fellow Canadian kiteboarder, kiting on a lake in Ontario.
Hopefully he doesn't need to use the safety systems...
Christian
tough indeed. I too would be pretty worried about frozen safety system. I wonder how they deal with it?
... geezus, I complain when it gets to 28 deg C let alone iced up chickenloop,,,,,, fark that,,,,,must have balls of steel !
You are a product of your environment. I think I'm going to die when its hotter than 30 Deg C.
I admit a frozen safety system is a bit of a worry.

30th Jan to 16th Feb.
Big crew coming down from NT . Main mob there 5 Feb to 13th Feb. You better join us !
We'll figure out how to fit you in , no probs. I think we will catch up with HAAK as well. If the conditions are ok we will head down to Nene valley or something too.
SA south coast is amazing and completely untapped.
The mob are under strict orders to bring wetsuits... they don't know what they are and are googling it now ..
Ide be making sure my pee pocket was securely zipped up and double checked
actually may be useful for defrosting safety
... and as any surfer after a session in cold water knows
Would the frozen chicken loop pictured really be a safety issue? Surely it must be superficial ice around the outside of the qr, it would have to be frozen in a block of ice to stop it from working
The real scary thing about kiting in water that cold is if you drop your kite out deep and can't back to shore you will die of hypothermia quite quickly

These guys are using dry suits, completely sealed so no water can get in. With a good quality dry suit and a life vest you could survive many hours in the coldest waters.
