Do my eyes deceive me or does Tom pull off the impossible here.(4:50 in Toms Kitchen 3)
Cannot understand how he gets back up! Maybe he is just trying to be funny as the vid cuts away before it happens.... Don't think he is riding away clean on this one...
I would love to add this to the bag of tricks though, love how you can drag the lead hand through the slide.... So sick.
Looks like he might have taken the kite to 1:30 or so and then back again, rather than actually looping it.
I've never been able to draw a decent arc without the loop. Maybe with 30m+ lines??
If you look at his left hand just before he tries to come off the water, it all looks normal. That is the final little tug to finish the loop and yank back up.
Talking to a mate, he gave me an idea. It would be possible to start a normal darkslide, switch hands with the bar. This can release the kite side hand to drag on the water.
After the loop and ride away spin the bar back to normal. Like coming out of a front roll kiteloop transition. You park the kite and spin your lines to untwist everything.
Tom does not do this in my opinion as lhs is yellow in the rest of the vid.
Was still hoping it was a down loop start and I'm just not ballsey enough to give it a crack yet .
Swapping bar left to right is never a good idea, if you mess up and try turn your kite in a panic you will definitely mess it up and get wrecked.
After watching the vid 100+ times I guess I'm convinced it's a "nana slide" (no loop required). Just the editing makes you think he pops back up easily.
That being said I love the kite side hand drag so much the bar swap method is the go. For me anyway to get that clean pop back up.
One thing for sure though, I cannot find any video evidence of a downloop start darkslide. Technically it should be possible just scary as all F$&k!
come on guys who is going to post a vid of the first one ;)
Duh!
Bit of Occam's Razor required for this one!
Let that be a lesson to the newbies, put enough time and effort into something and eventually you will get what you want!
Now I have to wait for some wind to add the variation to the list
Credit to "Yes we love kiteboarding"@ 1:06 standard kiteloop darkslide but has right hand on LHS bar for the stezzy handdrag!
This guy needs some lessons. He is not holding an edge very well
