Hey folks,

I'm looking into Fiji in mid-October for 2 weeks - I've done some searching on here, but still trying to work out options. I'm a newb, just at the point of being able to get up and ride, no direction changes, etc - so looking for flatter options with decent wind. Any recommendations?

Seems Namotu is highly recommended, but I can't find if that's all wave riding, or decent for beginners too?

--edit - just found some Namotu prices, I guess that's out..! (looking for more, 200/night, not 2k)

TIA

Try the plantation island resort on Malolo island - more affordable than some of the other boutique resorts like namotu and tavArua, great for families, has a big sandbar nearby where they can take you to kite with lots of flat water. I've stayed at a nearby Malolo island resort and kited there, it was also great.

Fiji Beachouse half way between Nadi & Suva on the Coral Coast . Very cool laid back resort with Kiting straight out front in a protected lagoon. Really well priced and great vibe.,

Thanks fellas, appreciate the advice! Someone also messaged me about Matanivusi - searching here I couldn't find anything on it, so if anyone has experiences (or of anywhere else) I'm all ears

hi piros

any wave options for paddle or kiting close by, or do all require boat trips?
interested in whether you still found it value/a hassle compared to being on one of the islands etc

cheers

I've been looking at Malolo Island resorts as I was thinking I'd end up there - Just had at look at the wind forecast to see what's going on and it seems pretty light, in the next 2 weeks it's only showing 1 day over 15knots..

Just wondering what the minimum I should be looking for and wondering if it's still possible to kite in Mid October out there?

why don't you just hire a vehicle on arrival fiji and do it yourself

paying 2890 for 6 days is insanity

same goes for indo

2290 for 6 days is beyond the pale when you can pay 30 a night for breakfast wifi in an air conditioned room

information is out there, you can do it yourself

Kiterdad - If you have any links/details i'd love to hear. I've done a bunch of searching for Fiji on here and haven't found what you mention

Vendevours - Good pics! Thanks, Muscat looks good.

Would love a recommendation for a company for lessons, if anyone has one. Seeing as I know how to launch/retieve board etc, I wasn't looking to start from scratch and do a full IKO course. Just some help launching/landing/tips + gear

Bump to see if anyone knows a resort/shop on Malolo that offers kite+gear hire? - Haven't found one yet, which is killing my plans as I don't have any.

TIA

Update to wrap this up and for ppl searching.

I couldn't find a shop in Fiji that rented kite gear near the area I wanted. So I ended up here in Tonga www.matafonua.com/

Really nice setup for someone learning like me. Protected lagoon, about 2m deep, less in places so I'd advise booties.
