Had one of my best ever sessions yesterday at Stockton beach with Lachlan from Kiteworks and Ian Huish. I rode around to Nobby's to visit the crew over there via going around the break wall. When I got there, there were no waves, low tide with the reef exposed and getting chocked up with windsurfers. I decide to head back to Stockton via the break wall again, I tacked back straight for the beach behind the former Army base. When I get the there I was greeted with some great little waves and smooth as conditions. I think with the North East swell we are getting at the moment, it's catching some great little waves and pushing a heap of sand back down the beach to create some nice little banks as well (most sand I have ever seen on Stockton beach at the south end).

For those who are getting sick of the over crowded conditions at Nobby's, I reckon that North Stockton is defiantly worth a look at the moment. The water is warmer, cleaner and we get a couple of more knots of wind over there compared to Nobby's.
It’s cross shore just like Nobby’s with a ton more room.

It can be access via going around the break wall or across the harbour (experienced riders only) from Nobby’s. From Stockton you can either go from the pines and tack up wind, just before the soccer fields there is a dirt track you can take, via there you can park you car right next to the beach or there is access through the Hospital that gets you just north of it. When you’re finished it’s a great little down winder back to the pines if you launch from there. Getting back to Nobby’s is easy in the afternoon as the winds go more NE you can tack straight back around the break wall from there.

There is heaps of room and with no other beach users apart from the fisherman behind the soccer fields.

noooo you got it wrong . I did say that there is much better riding near the old army camp/stockton centre than the direct onshore conditions at the pines in NE and that i couldn't understand why alot of people just ride in front of the pines.it is a nice placee to park /launch and ride away from and return to at the end of the day with the grass and the shower(just trying to suggest that with a short ride the conditions are much better tho I have noticed that there is a drop of of power rightnear the beach further up ,maybe thats the reason for hangin around the pines) ,and yes there are alot of sharks at stockton .i have seen heaps of little ones the last few days .Don said he saw a biggie on thurs

i think Ian made a post to my thread that questioned why riding in front of the pines was so popular and that he said yes indeed the whole of stockton was terrible and that people should stay away

I was thinking this morning that stockton would be great for some fun course racing .Start at the pines upwind and around the buoy just outside the harbour entrance ,across to acollect a flag at the stockton cntre via a bin on the beach and downwind to the pines
