Kiting in France?
I'll be in Hossegor, south of Cabreton (so south of france) for about 2 weeks.
Then spain and portugal for maybe 3 weeks.
Chasing waves mainly.
I have a 7, 9 and 11.5 if i could only take two which two?
Any other info worth noting?
Cheers
definitely take the 11.5
most europe winds are pretty light
I only took an 8, and it was never enough.
you could use your 7 on the levente in Spain
but it's a crap gusty wind
I kited it once or twice on the 8
but it's not fun
I'm keen to go to France and kite the med, are the winds better there in September rather than July ? I think there's more mistral in August/September.
Ah right right,
so 11.5 and 9 you'd reckon?
I'll be back in France late September to mid october after I've travelled
around a bit.
Better then?
hey mjp 12,
i m herve from frejus ( south east france ), ok cap breton is south west opposite side but like paul 1 said poor conditions if you re after waves at this time of year.
talking about kite size: i d skip the nine and bring 7 as well as 11,5.
The reason is your going to spain and portugal, and i know for sure cause i ve been there, in case you need a bigger size, a shop in viana do castello ( north west port.) will rent u some gear no worries, mind you, you might not need it cause this place is quiet windy especially, in J J A, with some good waves at times.
gincho ( cascais lisbonn ) further south, very windy beautifull place, good vibes, the shop there at the kite spot down the hotel will rent gear as well, boards and kites.
on your way there, you might want to stop at peniche and nazare, lovely places, not sure about the rentals though.
i suppose as you ll be in cap breton, you ll be travelling, through GALICIA, north spain, a place like la coruna offers heaps of good spots around, wind and waves, valdovinio is good, but i m not sure about rentals either, actually kiters and windsurfers based in viana, make a move to galicia when the wind is lower on the west coast of portugal, a bit like in WA, when perth gets really hot and we have to go south in augusta, albany or esperance to use the easterly;...
about france, mistral (south east ) can hit sort of anytime during the year, depending on where you ll be around sept oct, leucate and gruissan (tramontane wind) are places around the city of narbonne with heaps of wind almost all year round, so you ll be happy there.
if you happen to come south east, you ll be able to rent a big size kite here with herve, ( rousseau this one ), as we have light conditions sometimes, so let me know if you need more infos, and we can catch up if you wish, you r more than welcome to come and kite in my country mate , rv.
Thanks heaps Herve!
Exactly the stuff I was after.
I'm keeping this trip flexible so could find myself around the South East at some point for sure.
Cheers, Max
There's a couple of special spots inland, lac st croix du verdon and lac st cassien, both around 30 klm2 in size, the wind can whistle down the gorge giving you a spectacular session, in possibly one of the most scenic locations in the world, used to live in the var region and the lakes were my fave spot, better quality chick viewing in Cannes though, cafe Roma across from the Cannes film feat was minge spotting central
