Which posters on this site have genuine good advice and which ones are full of crap.

I mean honestly- the amount of people with a financial interest flogging the ****e out of other peoples gear on here is nothing short of disgraceful- name and shame away........

Some site sponsers that dont think they have to follow the posting guide lines.

People that wont try new gear and bag the sh-t out of it as they state they are experts on everything without having to try it.

Some people really enjoy the gear they are using and offer good advice, people trying to shame these people for having there say should be shamed.

Any one that has posted on the cab bashing page, that wasnt just trying joke around a bit. They are a good kite at the end of the day thats why there are so many around.

People that only offer spam as a review

People that remove a post that they started as they relise that what has been said by someone else is true.

Its a bit hard to name and shame these people as its against the posting guid lines but i think most people will allready know who you are?

As soon as you read some one`s post you can feel it from the tune of the post that if this guy is trying to sell you something or is he genuinely like or dislike one product.

There are a lot trolls and marketing guys around here but I guess they are the ones who paying the cost of running this website.

All I do to support seabreeze is every now and then click on the advertises here cuz I know that it counts.

I'm not sure what you mean.
Retailers will always prop their products.
New buyers will always prop their buys.
Those that support/are suppported by shops will prop whatever that shops stock
Those that can't afford the new gear will bag.

Reviews are subjective often distorted and rarely based purely on an impartial opinion.
Which is why there is such a thing as demo kites.

I am just sick of the lies- x brand is rideable in 10 to 65 knots, the new x is suitable for everyone and every style. Bollocks.

People come on here and ask for advice and then as a newbie they might not see that some of this stuff is total and utter bs.

Not only that the number of posts next to a name might give some credibility where none is deserved......

I have no financial interest regarding kites but I still don't understand why people that aren't sponsored by brands like slingshot and naish. My opinion is based only on what happens down the beach with my mates bars constantly falling apart therefore them having to end up buying new gear every season. If I was sponsored I would fly Slingshot for the reason that I wouldn't care if stuff breaks I'll just get a new one off my spono. I've have my fair share of crappy kites, slingy is at the top. This is genuine good advice

I have no financial interest in anything to do with kiteboarding (this site included - Admin isn't a paid position).

I am, however, full of crap.

I think its pretty easy to tell the BS pimps from the genuine helpers.
Even some of the people with financial interest (kitehard and Steve of kitepower) are helpful and a credit to the forum. Sure they are going to say positive things about the stuff they sell... they would be stupid not to, but overall I feel they - and some others are a credit to the forum.....

ones I disappove of are the ones who pop on here once a year to pimp something ... and then f..off until the next season.

I actually think Kitehard gives quite good advice, if you need relationship or life counselling you can't go past Djodjo....

It just sucks that you get all amped about trying something that has had the living piss pimped out of it only to find that it is scheisen hausen !

You can always tell the genuine posters when it reads like this..

Im semi sponsored by Eclipse Kiteboarding NZ & absolutely love the 10m Thruster kite - not because I got it cheaper either. Im into fast turning - big ass jumping where you look downwards at other people jumping ! The kite sells itself from visual prformance. If someone is interested I let them demo it to decide for themselves, no baggin of other brands because its not necessary and " ALL " brands have at some time produced a LEMON or two or three - so none is better than the other.

At the end of the day its personal preference and everyone should do a little research (reviews/forums worldwide) into what there buying BEFORE they get it.
This rules out a lot of disgruntled Punters

Hopefully someone will bag this post and youll see what I mean

Cheers Clay

these lines are usually good clues to the pimps....

"It offers the best of both worlds, C and Bow."
"range between 11 and 35 knots"

I would rather listen to what most of the site "trolls" have to say at least it's not straight copy pasted out of an advert.

True, but at the end of the day, they are still promoting gear they sell. I.e. Steve insisting that cabrinha backless bindings were actually bindings when everyone knew they were glorified straps. Now other brands are climbing on the binding bandwagon and every time someone asks a question about bindings you have to check first to see if they are talking about boots or straps.

Start Mini-non-releveant-Rant

On that topic, some ideas like that piss me off. Companies think its great marketing but it f&$k's up the market. Try do a search for "best 2010 bar" when you are looking for the best 2010 bar rather than the brand Best and you get a hoard of non-relevant crap. Sure, they think its great for their brand to appear in searches but its messed up every kite forum and I'd rather drink turpentine and piss on a BBQ than touch their stuff.

End Mini-non-releveant-Rant

I agree you cant really go past Djdojo for life advise...... that guy has some serious Zen stuff happening and a unnatural level head and that is just from reading his posts, he should probably have his own sticky, the heading " Genuine Good Advice " would be quite apt.

But seriously the retailers often give very good advice particularly if you are talking about their brands and I have found that they are quite upfront about their allegences (spell ) etc.... I dont think they give misleading advise but perhaps just a little biased but that only natural and I think we can all accept that.

Aw shucks you guys, I'm just happy to be part of a fun and often constructive forum. If some folk have found my offerings useful then that's a bonus.

The way I see it is this, I've had plenty of excellent kiting advice from this forum, and am more than happy to offer what I can from my own areas of expertise. And, as my kiting experience and skill grows, I'm throwing my hat in the ring occasionally on that front too.

We sit under trees we did not plant. We plant trees under which we will not sit.

See y'all on the water,
