Does anyone use the GoPro wrist mount for mounting to your kite strut? Do you have any tips on it's use?
Also is it good for use in the surf when normal paddle surfing?
Thanks
I used the wrist mount last week for the first time on the kite. Needed additional longer pieces of velcro to get the strap arround the strut. Video wasnt as shaky as i thought it would be. But maybe that is my great kite flying skills..
I set the camera on narrow, so didnt capture alot of great footage. You may need to use medium or wide setting. i need more time on the water to perfect the camera position, and get better footage.
Laurie has a good section in the "how to" section on placement and adjustment, of the camera, bear in mind the strut angle changes as it joins onto the leading edge, and you may need a little padding to centre the camera better.
Have a squiz at the new CamRig is custom made to host a GoPro around the center strut of the kite:

Personally, haven't had a chance to try it with the GoPro (but plenty with Pentax W80) .. anyone got some video from a goPro? (just for surfingboye)
Here's the article:

...and plenty of discussion & photos in this topic covering home made strut mounts for the GoPro..

Enjoy..
Pics arent bad, but vids are very hard to watch due to the kite pivoting the footage on the screen. Looks good stabilised and edited though.
I sometimes use a wrist mount to attach a go pro to my C4, its fits nicely on my 9m, however the strap requires extending to fit around the centre strut of my 12m.
Below is an example, this is filmed using the narrowist setting (r5). Setting the go pro to photo mode can also produce some interesting shots from the kite.
Two 1 1/2 inch TOKO velcro snow ski straps used together with a GoPro mount brass screw riveted to ensure secure. Works well around centre strut. Use slightly off centre.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Zoom on a go-pro? - the new Hero2 has 3 FOV settings which is a bit like a zoom.
