Had some old bladder material lying around and was learning to heat seal bladder material with a pencil, iron and baking paper (with limited sucess).
Then I thought of using the Mrs's ceramic hair straighteners and baking paper, worked a treat and heaps easier. Just need to get the timing right as they run hotter ( think some have adjustable temp settings).
Just wondering what other kiting tips people have which might be good to know?
I've found that just holding on for as long as possible, over time, strengthens the bladder. I sometimes treat it as a game, when I am feeling a bit under-utilised. Though I do have to pick my time as it can lead to embarrasement.

I like straightening my chest fringe before I go out, coz people look at that rather than my weak bladder.
i been fixing big messy bladder blowouts with an regular iron and the backing of a sticker for many years
usually my bladders blowout at the corner where the lines attach
i make sure bladder still long enough first to just cut out section that is messed up deformed you are screwed if you have one pump and it is not @tip of kite
then on a book with a cotton t shirt around it i iron back one half (sellotape other half out the way) to the other making 10mm seam for 5-6 second on hot - i iron with the waxy side of the sticker peeling (not the actual sticker!) on top so it does not melt to iron of course. flip it over and do the same - then on each side of bladder to to make seal - this part of bladder will be narrower by a bit but still ends up pushing out if u know what i mean.
