We have had a stella run of wind and swell for probably the last 5 weeks...froth! Great to see happy, knackered people getting around.

That spike before Christmas was mad. Kited Seppo and it was just nuking. Found the limit for my 7. Called it quits after an hour.

Hey, we kited Hells Gates the other week after we popped in and spoke to ya.
It was just a section of reef with whitewash. No throwing lips or anything...
Left feeling a little sad. Is it usually a gnarly wave?

I think Friday afternoon at Horrocks was about as intense an ocean experience I have had in some 35 years of windsurfing and now kiting. 30-35 knots and maybe 5-7 metre faces on the waves. huge amounts of water coming over the reef and all sorts of boils and wave formations you don't often see. And I guess Matt and my skills have improved to the point where we could enjoy it to. I felt blessed to be having such an adventure instead of driving back from Perth like I've been doing for last 15 years on a Friday arvo. This is an unbelievable place to live.

I wonder if you got the right spot Matt? Point Moore does have quite a few waves. That's not normally the impression people take away from Hells! It's a big old muncher of a wave. Not a classic surfing wave but it defintely breaks!

Was a brothel yesterday arvo, at hells and point, did give a thought of a horrocks run, a corros would of been good, had a yak with a local talking of how blessed we are here in the mid west, we've stunning conditions along our coast and the best thing, you can be the only one out

Not been much swell here this summer so far. Here's a shot of the inside section at Hells from last summer. Not as big as it gets, but pretty typical for summer.

Yeah I think I grabbed your kite when you came back in Xmas eve, I haven't found the top end on my 7 yet, 44-45 knot gusts that aftenoon with most of my trim still available. I managed to get one particular spot all to myself a couple of days ago, not a poley in sight and more ramps on the sets than I knew what to do with. The last few days wind has been well above forecast as well, tomorrow too hopefully.

yeh but got out of a bremer bay trip, so paying my dues now...maybe in a week or so I might be able to get out of jail...

crowds? Midwest? What crowds? I spent 5 days late last year kiting totally alone to the point I got sick of it, and I detest crowds and people in general

Where's your spot ? ^^^

Don't go believing all the hype you read about WA.

You really need to stay awhile to appreciate the primo days we get here.

That's why Euros put in the months during the season.

Given you were here for 4 or 5 days and covered margaret river to oakagee not surprising you prefer your home spot! It takes time to understand the nuances of an area and to let the weather gods do their stuff.

As eppo pointed out, at Horrocks where I mostly kite we just love our visitors, so we get some company.

But I do get it...even though we relentlessly get shafted by the wind gods down here (you can drive 20km north and it's howling, here squat, weird), there is no place like home.

No crowds around here mate. Get most spots with just some mates and I nearly every day. Gotta love it.

Agree Eppo nothing beats the place you know best.
Had to use my 10 today, first time for probably 2 months. But I was overpowered at the end haha.

For sure! I'll PM you my contact details. I'm back at work after the 19th but weekends are fair game and even if I don't join you, happy to coach you through the downwinder any time!

The swell had yet to pick up when I saw you, the more hollow waves are further upwind on the reef, also much bigger where I sailed from that day, no crowds out there when we do get a decent swell & its channel busting the north end of hells is a very scary place to be even for seasoned slayers, typically end of the season between fronts is the pick of the bunch,

Gero is great but wish the wind would calm down a bit, well over this 30-35knots, bring on mid 20's and thumping sets
