Hi
Last weekend I hit a rock with my board and I cracked it(see images).
Any ideas of how to fix it??
Hey mate you could mix up some epoxy and fill the Crack and then squeeze it back together. Buy honestly, boards are ment to be used and **** like this happens. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just seal it up so it dosnt rot the wood! !
Just sand back all the daggy bits and seal it up with some epoxy. ( I have even used two part araldite )
But make sure you let the board dry out first.... Leave it in the sun and you should see trickles of water seeping out of the crack.
Once this stops seal it up
ditto to hp and kemp.
but is it foam core or solid wood?
Foam core means your rail strength (ie the "external stringers") is gone. In this case you'll need to sand back and wrap at least 2x4oz x 80mm wide 200mm either side of the crack plus the chop strand you fill the crack with. I go further than 200mm but i don't like them to break again..
if its wood core fill it up and don't worry.
Thanks guys for the advice.
I will try with the araldite. And yes it's wood core.
I will put some images once that its done.
Cheers
all that really matters is anything so no water gets to wood so it can be sucked along wood grain..
you can repair abs(if abs rail) by sanding some other abs into dust and melting it in acetone then filling hole with the goo and sanding it down again - might b a bit over the top and i dont fancy a colour match... $2 epoxy?...
Hi folks,
Just wanna piggyback this topic. On my twin tip board, I have quite a few scratches and dents (nothing critical, but annoying). Does anybody know how to fix those?
Thanks!
For scratches - I use 5 min araldite.
You need to use a scraper with a hard edge.. Just pull it over the top after you've filled the scratches for a flat finish.
On twin tip board ends that have opened up slightly - use masking tape along the top and bottom edges sticking out about 5mm - pour the araldite into it..
Leave the tape on till it sets hard.
File it back to shape and your away -
