Today my pride was hurt. This girl was doing better tricks than me.
Didn`t really mind, she was hot! So I packed up early and just watched.

I nearly knocked myself out twice.
first time I was beginner, I missed a turn, the edge of the board caught the water, and I smashed my head very hard on the water. I was wearing a helmet. I was a few meter from the beach, released my kite and got to the beach, I couldn't stand, I stayed lying on the beach for half an hour, with the world turning around me. friends came to help

second time, I was trying to relaunch my kite, didn't work and my lines came entangled around my bar, {I was using the F.one bar a few years ago, the one you need to punch a ball with the bar}, it didn't work and the kite relaunched and start looping before crashing again. hit my head on the water, take the chiken loop off my harness, and pull on one line, go to the nearest sand banc and try not to pass out.

another time, hurt both my ankles because I landed on a m steel buoy, trying to jump over it

Hi all.

We are working on an idea that could help to prevent a number of kitesurfing injuries, however we first need to do a little market research.

The people we want to hear from are those that have sustained kitesurfing injuries to legs, ankles, knees and hips.

If we could have some idea of the type of injury sustained and a short description on the incident that led to the injury it would help a lot in understanding how we can tailor this idea to maximize protection.

This is not a wind up and could lead to preventing kitesurfing injury. If anybody does not want to post on a public forum then please PM me.

Cheers

Chris

Jungy, do you count the old guy swimming at Torquay last summer, that someone on a waroo ran over, as a kitesurf injury ?

EH? Waroo?? Not me Brother.

me... im starting to get rsi in my knees....
but bout novemberish, my mate was a km offshore (still a bit noobish) learning to chophop, landed one foot out, twisted his ankle the wrongway, let go of his bar and kite hit LE down. popped off a one pump strut valve and deflated his kite. anyhow, good boy did the right thing and selfrescued. 55mins later myself and lifeguard found him 5k down the beach... well 2 months on, hes one plate and seven screws more bionic and pissed cos he got a no impact rule placed on him til end of feb. poor bugger.

Jungy, didnt say it was you !! Just some inconsiderate waroo kiter who didnt even apologise to the old guy who gave a couple of us a mouthful the following day as we set up. Found out later why he was so pissed at kiters. No idea who the waroo was, he apparently didnt even apologise to the swimmer.

Lacerated feet and bruises from being pulled onto rocks - my fault went to close to edge of rocky island as tide going out, board caught a rock and waves pushed me in further. The kite and board got more damage than me.

Sore knees all the time (Chrondomalicia) something like that, patella does not track in the middle rubs to one side, cartilage surface under patella becomes irritated and inflamed and knees become painful and almost lock.

A number of whiplashes when learning being pulled over front of board and landing on face. Lots of medical bills and physio visits for this one. Did it again recently trying a new jump.

Landed a jump with one foot off board and it hit the side of the board as I landed in shallow water. Thought it was broken but luckily not just bad bruising.

Got to take the good with the bad!

Fracture and dislocation of my finger, with rupture of tendon too

Being towed to shore after my leading edge went flat. My finger caught in his harness as my grip slipped off.

Why do injuries always happen early in the season? If it happened in March I wouldn't be half as pi$$ed
