So whose out there jumping stuff?
I'm not talking about water. Actual hard structures. boulders, rock walls, boats etc.
I think almost anyone can punt a jump. But timing a jump over something physical structure takes the risk and skill to a new level.
Every now and then when the wind speed, angle and tide is right I get chance to jump over a rock groin that separates the sea from a stream inlet. It's about 4m wide and 1m or so high. So not super big. But its pointy boulders and on the other side of the groin you havea bout 8m landing width on the stream before hitting more boulders.
So its a thread the needle jump with unpredictable water leading into the jump.
Its pretty cool looking down as you jump over the boulders.
Regale me with your jumping antics!
... no jumping but certainly did some timing to get my prize,,,,,pic doesn't show but this is 55' foot of cat under full sail in 20 knots going downwind so I had to time things just right to cross the bow and still have enough speed to not get run over,,, could have ended badly but hey,,,,it didn't,,,,, so all good.
Man I was thirsty! Thanks Tone!!
ps for those in the know, yes yes that might have been the skipper sitting on the bow under full sail with no one at the helm,,, like i said, timing is everything.
I love a good sand-bar or rocky groin jump and whenever the wind is cranking i take full opportunity to 'send it' over whatever is about but this photo is of Clayton - aka 'shave the whales' jumping the entire pier lamp-post an all) at Point Walter, WA....... I love how it captures the stoked attitudes of all of us guys in the photo too.

oh yeah that's what I'm talking about!
... not me but a mate went to jump a tinne towing a couple lures. No big deal but he semi-stuffed (ok, fully) stuffed it up.
He had plenty of height but instead landing on the other side, he went down wind a lot more than he expected so landed in the middle of the fishing lines. Dumb arse should have taken off more upwind.
Anyway, that's not the dumbest bit, he got caught up in the lines so while the fisherman kept going he madly tried to chew and break the lines as lures loomed,,,, one finally hooked up on his shorts and the other on his bar. Doh!!
I think I have a bit of us laughing at him at the start of a little video I made,,, I'll try dig it up. Found it!

Does a sandbar count (2:00)?
Ill pay that as a good jump in my books!

Nice vid, but gotta go off topic for sec. Gotta use the Doors (real version) Garret aint no Morisson. That song is way beyond his vocal capability. Mans gotta know his limitations.

I think the short answer is yes.
The longer answer is as follows.
If we set rules for a challenge then the sand bar would need to fully exposed to count. With some water cover you are still jumping water allbe it very shallow water.
Geez Robbie, at 1:48 in your vid above...hows the state of your lines!!
... teehee, well spotted. I'm surprized they even lasted 10 minutes with my weight hanging off them. Actually they were my sons who loops and does those flicky flicky sh!t things so is bloody rough on his stuff, rides along with the bar twisted after some sort of rotation clearly for too long judging by the fur hanging off them! Not used anymore, sitting in some pile of old cr@p heap in the shed now!
cheers,
Robbie

... thanks Richoa , yeah its not often remakes are better than originals. I was trying to kind of keep my vid Aussie-ish so used the oils instead.

Yeah good point. There was a >>smidgen<< of water over that sandbar at the time. I'll do one over the trainer's heads next time and get good "one finger" salute footage from them as well. hehe

Huh??? the REAL version is by Russell Morris.
stand corrected, was thinking it was the doors. But main point was Garret cant sing that song remotely close to good
