Yes theres a price everyone pays in Mega Beatings - when playing the Megaloop game...

That hurts to watch.

Massive respect for LC as a rider, and also an instructor; his series for Woo is top-notch.

I hope they get him back on his board quick smart.

Yep hope Lewis is OK soon!

Are riders in the KOTA marked on height only, or do they get points for the tricks they do on the way up and down?

Big discussion at kf.com about this--there are 4 categories IIRC, something like height, risk, style and...something.

Yeah I believe you'd be scored higher for doing a late front flip megaloop at 18 meters than you would be for doing a simple megaloop at 18.5 meters. May be wrong but I believe that's the case as the risk is drastically higher to add any rotation while looping. I don't do any flips with loops anymore as I've gotten absolutely smoked doing it. Loops I'm comfortable at any height but it's a whole other ball game with a flip...

Thanks for the pointer Kamikuza, all the info I wanted and more is there in that thread kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2391582&start=10

This is how its judged

I'm puzzled why you would want to throw in risk, to something that has a huge potential to kill you already if something goes wrong? The event is called "King of the Air" its about big air< am I missing something?

No wonder the comp riders doing the mega loops and tricks are wearing one and sometimes two knee braces.Concussion in sport is in the forefront also. How extreme is extreme kiting.?
Maybe wave riding instead of huge tricky jumps would lessen the risk of injure.
As you get older the body doesn't handle this sort of abuse.I admire the champs that perform these amazing tricks even at our local level.

Here is some more detailed info. Just my opinion, but I think whoever is in charge of the judging criteria needs to have a good hard look at what they are expecting young competitors to do, and the consequences that result. People are getting seriously hurt and maimed for life. Is the event organiser going to help rehab for these people?
The event is about the biggest air, leave it at that I reckon, anything above 7-8M has the potential to be fatal or result in serious injury, why compound the risk by a huge factor??? Just to please the media and the naming rights sponsor? I think this event is painting a dark and negative picture of our sport and for what?
