Anybody every had their canopy turned into swiss cheese by kiting in a hail storm?
It's supposed to be howling at my local later on, but could also include hail. Just got me thinking.... is it a good idea?
I'll post a pic later on today if anything interesting happens
Sadly for you Cauncy, all that happened was I scored some pretty windy and completely empty conditions at one of my locals.
Where everybody else was - I don't know. Maybe inside cuddling their kites and reassuring them that it was all going to be ok once the storm passed?
After enjoying 2 hours of it I figured I'd better leave a little bit in the tank for tomorrow and the next day
unless the hail is razor sharp (they're usually ball shaped) I think the canopy could easily withstand it esp if it can hold enough wind to push over a car or boost a mere mortal over 25m
Once in the UK I had to land my kite on a sandbank and hide underneath from the hail , it was throwing down 4-5cm wide chunks of ice at about 45knts . Was a wicked session before and after and the kite was fine :)
