Is that a real ad? That is probably one of the crappiest made ads I have ever seen for a car.

There was a new VW ad on TV last night that was a montage of all the models in VW's lineup. The Amarok was being used to pull a boat out of the water at a boat ramp. I can't imagine this (the lifesaving) ad being used in Australia... we wouldn't take it seriously!

Did you see the bit where the female driver presses the "park" button, and the guy in the coffee shop goes "well fBEEEPk me"? I nearly wet myself laughing

Apparently VW took the class leader (Toyota Hilux), stripped it down to it's nuts and bolts and looked at what they could do to improve it. The rear box is also 20cm wider than the Hilux because it's designed to fit a quad bike for US surf rescue.

Only down side I see is that it's manual only. I don't mind manual but a large percentage of the US and Aus markets would not buy it as manual but they be because they are only releasing it in South America first and the rest of the world gets it later when they bring in an automatic.

Other oddity is the engine is only 2.0litre diesel but it's got twin turbos so it still produces 400nm of torque so it's not underpowered.

absolutely .They should have looked back to these old school vw utes for tray space .You can get a quad bike AND a jetski into these babies and are much cooler than a japute look alike.Howsabout some inspiration from the past mr VW .A 4wd version of these guys would sell spitloads .Just like the new beetles with all the mod cons and the pseudo 60's shape/look

That advert was shot at my local boat club. I rocked up as they were filming that bit where the boats is pulled out of the water and they said would i mind waiting till they finished shooting LOL's. You would not believe how much crap they had there and how many takes they were doing. I just said no way mate I need to get my boat out now, this was after a long day and the Race Series on a Friday night it was way past beer o'clock!!
They had to stop everything while I pulled by oat out with my trusty toyota corolla!!! Pressure was on! They were cool, but it was quite funny.
Nice looking ute, bet its exxy.

And this is not a ute, but it was an amazing legally registered vehicle in NZ/Auckland harbour, everyone who knows Juls is aware she is no giant and she was nearly as tall as this thing.
