A "Local" Kiter was air lifted to hospital yesterday from Umina. Any1 know about it? From what I heard Graham (who I've never heard of) got dragged 70m up the beach through a fence and into a sign post. I've seen the drag marks, fence and and the now 45 degree sign post and it ain't pretty. Also heard he doesn't ride his cabrinha with a saftey?
Probably not a good idea to publicise or speculate in this arena until the facts are known.
Too many trolls and critics will want to give voice to their egos with no concern for the dude who got hurt. Not all who read this forum are in favour of our sport and look for any opportunity to restrict it.
Let's hope any injuries are minor and our fellow waterman recovers swiftly.
I work at sbs, this came through on the wires today
NSW: Kite surfer undergoes surgery after windy fall
Surfer
EDS: Update from yesterday's story, changes man's age from 30 to
48 on new information.
SYDNEY, Dec 7 AAP - A kite surfer has undergone surgery for
facial fractures and a blood clot to the brain after strong winds
dragged him inland from a Central Coast beach.
The 48-year-old Woy Woy man was kite surfing at Ettalong Beach
at about 4.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday when he lost control of the
kite.
A southerly buster lifted the man approximately 15 metres into
the air and carried him away from the beach towards bushes and the
adjacent roadway, police said.
"The surfer descended rapidly and was dragged through the
bushes, struck a wire fence, which he broke through, and then
struck and bent a street-sign pole," they said in a statement.
When witnesses found the man, he was unconscious.
Ambulance officers treated him at the scene and the NRMA
CareFlight helicopter flew him to Royal North Shore Hospital, in
Sydney.
The man, who has not been named, was operated on for fractures
to his face and a blood clot to his brain.
He also suffered fractures to his ribs and pelvis, police added.
After being placed in an induced coma the man remains in a
serious condition.
Police investigations are continuing.

Sounds like a shocking accident, he's lucky to be alive. I am curious about how this occured, What type of kite he was using, ect.
Someone there must have seen it. i have looked at the graphs from yesterday and it wasnt overly gusty or strong. It actually looked like fairly good conditions 15-20 knot southerly. It is very onshore at that location , so maybe its the result of a trick gone wrong to close to shore, possibly equipment malfunction, line snapped ect.
Ease up boys I'm just trying to kill the rumours around here. Fell sorry 4 the bloke 2 just wanna get the facts. From what I heard he was self launching when the change came through.
