Hey all,
Just looking for a few pointers for kiting in or around Cooktown. I"m heading up there this weekend and will have some time to go out on Sunday Arvo (20/9/09).
I know there will be croc's and potentially stingers about so wondered if there are any local tips to avoid these nasties.
^ Also I'll be stuck there without transport for the afternoon so if your a cook town local and planning to go out would love to hear from you.
a couple of locals planning to be there this weekend-ring me on 40695659 and we'll organise a lift to the beach for you
no stingers this time of year and no crocs to worry about
Tony
Low tide will be Sunday Arvo at Walkers Bay . Ring Tony and he will get you down there as you need a 4wd. It'll cost you a beer at the Surf/Golf club.
No crocs or stingers to worry about

Hey Mike hows the season been up there? Still plenty of wind? Did Rich ever make it back to Port in his van?
David,
Wind hasn't been super strong (had a month of 7 metre weather) but mostly 15 to 25 knot stuff, still able to get out whenever we want for the last couple of months. Had a great session at Archers point the other evening.
Check out the December issue of kite mag. the Hopevale kids all got kite lessons out at Elim beach.
You still coming up next year?
Mick
Yep plan to go up there the same time over school holidays, but camp in there for about 10 days. Sounds like pretty good wind you've had there.
Do you reckon a subaru forester would make it down the track okey?
Forester would be fine. Just don't go out on the sand spit at the mouth of the Annan (let your kite take you there). A few cars stuck yesterday.
