I'm planning on modifying a bar and would like to know how long various brands safety travel is.

When you pop the safety, how far does the bar travel down the center lines before it hit something and stops?

Cheers.

should be at least the wing span of your longest kite that you use that bar with.

Best Bar shoots about 15m down the lines, resulting in tangled mess of a kite, modified mine for minimal travel, id rather ditch and swim if its that bad

A single front line safety it should be the lenght of the leading edge when the kite is deflate
Fifth line it should be the the cord of the kite (distance from leading edge to the trailing edge at the widest point of the kite).
I think the same applies to mini fifth systems. Both front lines like cabrinha used in the past
If I were you I check with the manufacturer.
Test in light winds

Cheers for the info.

I might have to have a look at the low y cabs, as that is what I'm trying to achieve.

Bit off topic but partially related.
I recently bought a 2nd hand kite from an east coast store. When it arrived lines were shot. Got in touch and they sent me brand new lines with apologies. Ozone kite. 4 lines with single line flag out. Problem is there is no stopper on either of the centre line to stop the bar if i have to hit the QR.
Can anyone recommend a method to put a stopper on the line?

I will use the the above advice for the spacing.

Ozone dealers have stoppers, but I removed mine as it's a pain tangling around it self launching. The amount I've qr'd it's worthless to me, ride suicide mainly. I've ditched the kite completely more times in comparison.

Stopper balls are available, if you got that kite from us, we will send you one for free.

Thanks NickT. I have never had to hit the QR for any reason other than testing, ever, but only been kiting a few years now so they day is gonna come. I practice it regularly to keep it fresh in my mind. Have three different brands of kites all with different safeties. Tested out the ozone safety in light wind a few weeks back and it ended in a tangled mess. Was thinking the stopper might prevent the inevitable 10-15 minutes spent detangling once back on the beach.
Will contact Ozone and see what they can do, but am still wondering does anyone have a home remedy solution?
