I hate politics and the arguments it causes. However....

On March 15 Qld kiters have to vote for their local members.

Usually we just vote without much thought because they are all the same. This year it's different. Places like the Sunshine Coast are electing fewer representatives to larger mega-councils and, with threatened restrictions to our kitesurfing futures, now is the time to work out who you will vote for. It is really important that we know their feelings about kitesurfing and their attitude towards restrictions.

The Caloundra electorate (division 2) incorporates my two favourite places to kite: Happy Valley and Golden Beach. I don't know all the candidates but I do know that Tim Dwyer supports our sport, our competitions and the attention it generates. Tim helped to drive council support for the 2007 Nationals, helped expediate permits through council and is always receptive to our concerns.

If you live in an area where restrictions are imminent then please vote for the person who will fight for our sport. Don't just tick a box. Ring their office and have a chat.
