Hey surfer 62
This is the other half, the non grumpy one. 18 days to go. Fly out of adelaide late arvo sun. 24 july...fly back on red eye special sat 5th aug. Can not wait. I am on his computer so hope this will post. C u in sanur xx
That's great Ian. Bit grumpy last year mate. Visit the dentist before you come this time .
Look forward to catching up at Putus.
But we enjoy it because we know its shortcomings - beers , waves , some wind and great people. 17 knots gives us good times.
Its the vibe as well as the kiting. Indo has that element
Cheers.
Plus the locals come and pick me up when i drop the 17 at okka's .
I havent had my bali quiver out since bali last year. Might pay to check it out.
Going to buy beverage going through duty free this year. Been 7 years since last drop, could be interesting .
As wifey said, not long now
... I wanna reserve one of them drops with me!!!!!!

Be good to catch up Ian - grumpy or not - I know I have my moments
I have some friends in Sanur now....and there hasn't been much wind. I am heading over for a month mid August for the first time, hope to get a bit of wind and waves. As long as there are waves I will be stoked, wind will be the bonus.
heading over too sanur Tomoz has any one got suggestions on good affordable accomodation close to kite beach cheers[:P
http://abiankokorohotel.com/
Cheap, Clean, 2 mins from sanur beach, about $30 night including breakfast, stayed a couple of nights last year
And another place next door about same price with a rooffop pool, cant remember name
Cheers surfer for ur help ,tight lines
If you stay at kokoro or semawang (next door, thanks haak ) walk about 100m down lane past puri ayu and you come out from the back of bobbies rsstaurant, and beach, turn left to get to bagus/putus and hang out with the cruisy crew or turn right and head down to 3 more kite schools/ kite crews, all ok but mostly euro crew.
Im heading to lombok first then sanur from around 25th, catch up if your still around after that.
Hopefully the wind gods will be good, worse case scenario chill out and go for a surf or sup
Cheers

Twas another great trip this year, 3 weeks and only a few days without wind, added bonus was diving with manta rays off nusa penida.
The Darwin crew were awesome company as usual, cheers guys.
Not kiting related but it is vaguely related to the topic, photo of my 11yr old (plus instructor) doing his very first scuba dive off Lombok earlier this year. Proud Dad moment.
I am heading over to Sanur for a month on tues. Never been to Bali before. Looking forward to exploring some wind and waves. My schedule is pretty flexible while my wife runs a couple art retreats. Having never been, I want to makes sure I support the local people. How does it work in regards to kite setup, storage etc, clubs. I mean, I always rig my own gear, but do people hire caddies to help out and look after things? If so what is the general rate? We have rented out all of a small family run hotel that is about a block from kite beach. My wife was there two years ago and loved it, (I was not able to go at the time due to an injury to my finger which kept me out of the water for three months.) Taking two surfboards and a 10 Reo, and a 14 Cloud c2. I am about 82 kilos. Hoping this will cover most days. I do plan on traveling a bit but nothing is set in stone, just happy to let things happen as they come up. Any help would be great. Looking forward to some warm water....
Hi Fishy,
Just got back from Sanur, great spot.
Not sure but I reckon your quiver might be a bit light on.
We hang out a Bagus Kiteboarding about 300mm north of rip curl.
The guys will look after you there.
I flung them $25 a week to look after my quiver.
They will look after you launching and landing.
Nothing is to much of a hassle there.
Support Putu's and Jacks Warung which is at the same location if you can. Great locals.
Bagus and Kojack that run the kite boarding area also have great restaurants. Check them out if you get time.
The biggest tip I can give you is stay away from Rip Curl.
Thanks Hak, that was what I was looking for. If the wind stays light I will see if I can rent a foil. If not I am good at keeping myself amused ;) I love music and culture so there is plenty to explore when things are not so good for waves or wind. Looking forward to it. I am assuming that you meant 300 meters north, not 300 millimeters ;) Otherwise I would say things are getting pretty crowded!

Sorry to troll in here, but I am curious about Bali too.
Their website has this warning: " KITE & SURF BALI IS THE ONLY KITESURFING SHOP IN ALL OF INDONESIA! ALL OTHER WEB SIDE & COMPANIES ADVERTISING ON ALIBABA' ARE SCAMMERS.. NO KITES ARE PRODUCED IN INDO AND THERE ARE NO WHOLESALER.... WE ARE NOT ON ALIBABA' AND THERE ARE SCAMMER USING OUR NAME AND WEB SITE TO LOOK LEGIT. "
Is that true? Surely Indo has other kite shops?

Opppp's typo
Jankie has foils. The boys seem to be enjoying them when there's enough water.

I'm not aware of any kite shops in Bali, Jankie shop has shut.
Pretty sure he can still get gear.

If the missus wont mind, head over to sth lombok for a couple of days, stay at kuta lombok and do the one and a half hr drive ( car and driver $60 ) over to kaliantan beach east lombok, pretty much guarantee you will be powered on the 10, only $40 to fly garuda each way (bali/lombok) half hour flight, you should also get wind and waves in kuta lombok if you dont want to do kaliantan.
Will check it out for sure. My wife doesn't mind if I head out for a week or so, or even do multiple trips. As long as I am back to do things with her during her breaks in between workshops. She has a five day span in the middle of the trip, and five days at the end where we will do things together. She is not really the sporty type, but I got her into supping last year and she really digs that so a few paddles could be nice.
Actually just remember something, watch out for sea urchins, maybe even considering wearing Vibram five finger booties.
Kuta beach Lombok had hundreds but in the adjacent Mauwii beach/bay there were hardly any. It was so bad the kids who weren't wearing booties had to take turns standing on my fins to give their arms a rest from the constant treading water.
Be careful, surf gets huge in Mawi as it faces directly SW and gets all the swell.
Maybe try Tanjung Ann or out the front at Kuta if the surf gets up.
Great place to kite and hangout
Hey Surfer,
Been 3 years now and still haven't seen you jump that boat on the left.
had your misses in the water taken pic, but nah, none of you jumping the boat. Must be the Bintang talking
Love the way you can spot a camera taking photos, your like a seagull looking for a chip. Once you see one your there in a flash.
