Just wondering if anyone has stayed at Ekkas Breaks Lombok and kited there?
Usually go to Vayu in Sri Lanka but it's a hell of a trip.
Any other S.E Asia good wind spots?
Cheers.
You can stay at Kaliantan beach, local accommodation just near there now, crew staying at eckas usually end up at Kaliantan, July and August best times, fairly windy for Indo, 8 -10 for SB and 10 -14 for TT, flat water inside reef, fun waves on the reefs that go for miles. Worth spending a few days in Kuta, Sth Lombok, kite the bay and reef or plenty of surf spots nearby, bit like Bali used to be, about 2 hrs from Eckas/Kaliantan, 1 hr to Praya Airport.
I've stayed at Ekas breaks. Very remote but got some good service from the french owner after some minor issues. Not a bali resort but very good for a budget resort.
Check the new spot on Sulawesi - Unbeatable for the wind in Indonesia, have been there and spent my entire stay in 8m, but no waves - got 2 days in August over 35 knots, most of the time over 25 ... and wind blowing already in early morning

looks nice if only it had waves...
Better hurry
Kuta lombok is quickly becoming another farking douche capital like canggu
Plus they've cut up all the land behind sigar for their motto gp
I was in Mallasoro last year when they made this video, French couple, did all the filming themselves, she's a former world kiteboard speed champion. Awesome location even without waves. Was over 30 knots every day for 9 days, taking a 7m this year, wind just blows 24/7, kiteable from sunrise to sunset. I did Maui 2 years ago and you can't kite til 11am that sucks.
Completely under developed village, no place to eat or enjoy a cold beer other than kite resort Batakite, no warungs, no cafes, no alcohol sold anywhere, very basic and simple lifestyle for the villagers, mostly cultivating and collecting seaweed to dry and sell, nothing else there for westerners except kiting, friendly french couple Regis and Alice running Batakite with right hand man Al to help out, they used to have the kite camp in Banda Aceh.
thanks Surfer62, is that wave action in your vid all Kaliantan reef area?
Yep, Lombok and Sulawesi plan this year, skipped Lombok last year for Sulawesi, both are awesome.
Makassar airport there is some international connectionS but not with Australia ... you are good for a transit in Bali
