To Bali. There's more bogan Australians there anyway.

But getting all up in our Aussie Pride, why has no one really seem to be supporting, what I think is some massive wins for Aussie kiting.

1) Eleveight Kites -

owned and founded in part by Rob @ Maroubra. Gotta say I've been using their wave kite and it's a freak. Since Best went bankrupt most the team moved away and founded Eleveight. The wave looks identical to the best Cabo but has way more power and is the nicest kite I've riden.

Impressively the 8m turns like an 8 and has the power if an eight.

Also no game changers. It's still the smoothest kite I've used.

2) BWS Blue Bar.
Ok. It's no longer a game changer, to have the click thingy bar, but it's hell sexy and simple.

Great to see Aussies pushing the industry.

Here ends my blatant pimping.

Australia should still move Aussie Day. It'd be way cheaper and more fun in Bali.

That is a really nice looking kite.
I know this is rediculous but the way a kite looks sell me almost as much as how they fly.
Who's selling them in Aus?

They are just starting to roll out. I'm guessing all the Best suppliers will sell them.

I looked at the 2 online and they look identical. Even the chicken loop and swivel looks the same as the current bws.

Someone said BWS had a click bar patent in sometime ago, so I'm guessing BWS designed it and is supplying Ocean Rodeo.

Click bar was developed by a third party and licensed to the various kite companies from what I understand

Nope wrong. Ocean Rodeo designed the Stick Shift Bar in conjunction with R3 designs, Designs on the first incarnation started way back in 2011, it has evolved a lot since then though. Not sure on how those companies are interlinked but they are somehow.
On sold this bar design to BWS. The only thing BWS has changed is the colour. And the name.

BWS had/has a rear line trim patent in but the design was pretty primitive like a btb trim cleat at one end of the bar. But the idea was there.

BWS and Ocean Rodeo (and others) have shared parts before on their bars.
Quite a few companies share that same QR, bar, & front line attachment design.

Doesnt really matter who designed what in any case. The bar is really good, get a demo.
Feedback I've had on this bar-
initially is "WTF?"
After using it "I want one"

Bar diameter is a bit bigger than others but the eva is nice and soft. The open design carbon composite bar flushes debris out really well. Stopper works sweet and clear lines atb. Line quality is great - Liros 580kg HD. The rear lines pay out when not under tension. Replacing parts is simple and relatively quick, spares available, you can change the trim knob to the left if desired.

The design is so simple looking at it, minimal moving parts but it did take ages to get it right with bar materials and small design issues.

Ocean Rodeo, BWS, or whoever is next - it's a good bar.
I think rear line trim is the way looking forward.

cauncy not really a "rip off" as I'm sure there's cash changing hands somewhere along the line

sorry for the hijack.

yep. my understanding is that bws baught the rights to the bar. so it theirs, either way, its meant to be good ay. I have used thw curved bar of theirs before. amazing how much leverage they produce, and super comfy on the wrists

Yeh, if you look at the web site, clearly R3 own it, and have shared parts as Eastcc explained.

Either way good to see an Aussie brand going top end.

Probably never really notice it until you know what it is you're looking at...

I like the sound of an 8m kite that flys and turn like an 8, doesn't change the game, and doesnt make me wonder if I do "Real Kitesurfing" or not.

I just don't get why you'd name a kite after pregnancy vitamins

Is it me or have kite prices gone through the roof?

I was thinking of upgrading this year but might stick with the one kite quiver.

Where is the incentive to support Australian Owned if the prices are the same as other brands.

Whinge over.

Turn up the wind dial please!

Hi,

as qld correctly said "Probably never really notice it until you know what it is you're looking at..."
I'm disappointed that North/Duotone "developed" it exactly like BWS.... but if BWS has a patent, why are they not sueing???
Especially if I look at the blue chip bar, BWS has still such a kind of bar in use. so why not haveing a patent for the "click bar"?
