i chose to compete only Saturday and in the website say you have to be insure and they will check prior .... i was insured on the day
My Opinion about NKL is 5 comps whit no prize for the winners , the only one that wins any thing is David De witt and his friends that gets to travel around Australia well planed retirement trip
Should just use all this money and make one big comp whit some decent prizes for the winner that would attracted much more people

that is basicly how i see EVERY sporting competition, but especially kitesurfing where organisers and there friends get hotels flights booze COMPED and everyone else who they MADLY try convince to compete are the ones paying for it all. were talking government grants comp sponsors all sorts of ****. i have seen the figures first hand that you can pull if your half smart about doing a comp there is all sorts of tourism grants (but GUESS WHAT! you have to be an "organisation" to get them *edit every bull**** kiteing org that just wants moneys name here* ) that you can get ontop of all this.

and the costs? with all these "semi comped" volunteers? absolute bugger all. oh but the logo designer spent 50 hours doing the logo ohhhhh and we ran fundraisers on our days off for the event etc etc etc at the end of the day a handful of friends get to party it up and walk tall at everyone elses expense.

i dont really have a problem with it at all, i really dont. i just want them to be more transparent and honest. if there was complete transparency on it all i would have no qualms about it.

personally brazilnuts i think its pretty **** you werent allowed to compete, but you should of just been the smarter man and not thrown these sharks a few steak dinners. i see a bit of anti brazil **** on here and i wouldnt be surprised if that had a little part to do with it. probably worried australias best kitesurfer would be brazilian or something hahahaha

he has talent no doubt about it , but talent alone doesn't make you a true sportsperson . Not being a complete f$ckwit certainly helps

Mr Brazil,

If you are interested enough in improving the competitive side of the sport, then put up your own money and run a comp.

I think you should be appreciative that someone (a person or companies) have taken a risk to run a comp.

There is no massive amount of money to be made in kitesurfing.

There's other judges who aren't team riders for the sponsors... perhaps there was some other reason.

Classic Holidays are the major sponsor and have committed to nkl for3 years which is a great opportunity to grow and improve the series. I doubt they have any team riders.

Having seen the amount of effort rowdy and the other judges and organisers put in over 4 days in Perth being paid $400 plus expenses is a steal. Apart from all the comp stuff they all spent at least a several hours a day teaching kids on trainer kites and talking to the public explaining kiting etc.

I wish I had people who would work 12 hours a day for $100 working for me. I take my hat off to the NKL crew.

You should start your own thread were you just post updates and your amazing photos/videos. That way we can all follow along at home and never miss any of your action.

Leo, it seems you've hit the self destruct button on you're "career as a pro kitesurfer"
You've burned all you're bridges in a small tight knit community. You are a sponsors worst nightmare and have been blacklisted for any support due to your track record. It's a shame you couldn't register properly for the event because it would have been nice to see you (and beat you)in big air. The pic you posted of the "big air winner"was during the finals of a wave comp so don't post a lame picture of me alongside of a high but not even close to landed shot of you dinging away claiming you would have won. I'm actually surprised you weren't in the competition zone during the finals like you were the rest of the day-like a sook. Must have broken all your gear?
