Ozone Bar Mod

Hey Guys
Few questions for edge riders. Long story short...very recently switched from rebels to edges. (yet to fly). I did not notice during the purchase that one of the bar ends was loose and flogged. (race bar btw)
So I Canabalised an old North bar and replaced the bar ends. All worked very nicely. Soft ends too! The knot positions are pretty close to original but not completely sure.
So my question is...how will an Ozone edge behave when it is over sheeted. I read that they are near impossible to stall so what other kite behaviour can I expect to indicate over sheeting?
During bar tuning, Ive allowed 1 finger space, between bar and CL, and put a stopper in the race trim using a figure 8 knot.
There seems like a ton of trim left in both directions, but I think Im probably about close.
Which is why my question is based on the kite flight. If they dont really stall what do they do?
Hope my question makes some sense.

I have a brand new 2015 ozone bar with soft ends for 350 if you want it. Might save ya life also?

Save his life? I cut off my bar ends, chop my bars, and screw the ends back on all the time... It's completely safe.

To OP if you have one finger space that should be fine and you shouldn't see stalling. If the kite is falling back in the window when you redirect it after diving the kite it may be slightly oversheeted but I'm sure you'll notice that. Just see how it feels and adjust as needed. Sounds like you've done a good job with the mod though.

They get heavy at the bar when you fly them choked ie over sheeted, I like to set my edges like this ,pretty responsive for a so called slow kite, rear line tension would be the tell tail to the eye, easily sorted at the bar or at pigtails

Thats the info I was after. Heavy bar pressure when (over) choked, and visable stalling.
Cheers Cauncy and Drury. It wasnt my preference to tear down my bar and lines a week after buying, but thats acceptance of second hand market.
I was a little bit surprised at the final result. The bar kinda feels great!!
Just gotta sort the geometry.
Thats a great price for a bar and lines too Jono, if it is still brand new in the box. That bargain will not last I'm sure.

Many racers allow a fair bit of oversheet, because it helps them get downwind faster, but thats why a race bar can have such a wide trim range. For normal freeriding you can easily tell if they are oversheeting, from the shape of the kite and its speed. For freeriding your setup sounds perfect, pull all the way in to turn fast for boosting and carving turns, the kite definitely turns best when slightly oversheeted.

That makes good sense now, with the down wind race, explanation. Spose I never considered that aspect of racing. Coming off rebels, turning speed will probably be one of my first challenges to get used to with edges.
Must admit, I wasnt really keen for the race bar when I first got it, but bit of education and I'm warming to it.
I never mentioned that, before tuning, I replaced the bar with brand new lines, (thanks to Kite Power) and the lines had extra knots at the kite end, adding to my less than confident
summation. Dont know if this is a new thing with Ozone lines or not. I remember reading a thread where Cauncy suggested tieing extra knots at pig tails as alternative to under floats.
Apologies if thats not true
Anyway
All looks good now though, and will test it all on Sunday.

Chris the addition of pigtail knots is a preference thing, for a quicker more powerfull feel a shorter back line or longer bridle setting, I've been playing with my 10 edge recently due to marginal winds, it's a fine line at times as your looking to open the face of the kite to collect the breeze , but you open up the chances of the kite backstall, but the additional feel at the bar makes you aware, not a massively dissimilar kite the edge and rebel,

Yeh thought that was the case Cauncy, re: personal preference, was just wondering whether Ozone caught on to a good idea. (although its new to me)
Good to know not too dissimilar between kites too.

I set all my ozones bars with 4 fingers gap in between bar and chicken loop when all lines are tensioned.

So that gives me 75mm of over sheeting from standard.

That's gives you a little more grunt, turning sharpness and lift. If you want too go back to factory settings pull the trim strap in half way an that takes you to factory.

Ps I have 10 and 13 edges in my quiver. They work great on this setting.

Good to know Plummet...75mm over, at full power.
Kite in question is a 2013 13m also.. Eventually 11m for any ventures south of here, but I have never managed to ride any smaller than 13 where I kite.
Warm low density winds, (North West Oz)
So with my average skills, and 100 pies, I some what rely on good turning, hence my discussion on max tuning settings.
Cant say my rebels ever had that much oversheet. If I spent some time experimenting, "opening the face", no doubt I coulda squeezed some more range out of them too.
Appreciate the education guys.
