Looking for advice on a board for Perth conditions?general kite surfboard, good carving, good in chop, strapped, and not bad in lightwind?I'm 86kg and just starting out on a directional, been kiting 4 years twinny.
Any advice on sizes, makes, etc would be much appreciated.cheers
North Whip would surely be better than the WAM for Perth? You can get any of the pop-out boards which are short, wide and flat and made in Taiwan.
However I reckon you'd be better off with one of the following made here in WA for the same cost:
- Delta (makes a small wave kiteboard, I think Slack has one)
- Katana (one of the lads at the local has one, also seen pics on this forum)
- Stone (makes sick boards up in Gero)
Here we go, check out the pics of the locally made boards yew:

bene313 is on the money. I havnt ridden any of Katana's boards yet but they look the goods in his workshop. Carbon rail expoxy board should take a beating too
This is new and a bit diffrent but it will do all that you want for riders 80kg+
5'10" x 17"3/4
Goes up wind as good as anything els you can buy without that locked in feel, will do radical slashes with ease.
Traditional PU construction with additional bamboo veneer on top
SQ are your boards designed and made in wa or designed here and made in thailand ?
serious question as i am looking at an ocean board for lanno /l2l etc
If ur wondering about the left-of-centre set back of the outside thrusters on the new Sugarqube surf Im told its to compensate for a flat spot built into the board to make it more kite-friendly. Esp upwind. The set back should more than compensate to make wave riding a dream on this board.
You can view it in-store at KSS & we can hook you up for a demo if ur not convinced.
This board deserves huge props to our local designer. Im thinking it will suit way more kiters than will ever get to try it. (just saying)
And can it double as your paddle-in morning board - again just imo but - yep!
If ur good enough for that size short board.
