I know people in Brisbane , Melbourne and Sydney.Perths rent is on par with brissy and Melbourne.Sydney is defiantly higher.
There is so much work here its what you make of it .Those who chose to work hard will succeed here .Those who are slack will continue to whinge and whine all day about the price of milk !.

3 hours down south of perth is Augusta Marygs and yallingup..Some fantastic kiting down there .People come from around the world to visit there.

I paid 290 ,000 for a 2 bedroom unit in Scarborough .A small unit, butI have done it up and the comlex will be under renovation..much cheaper than $500,00.

At the end of the day you can succeed here if you have the right mind set.you can succeed anywhere you desire .
Whinging and whining will get you no where.

ps: I actually agree with most of your statement but choose to ignore it and go kitting instead.

Slack is a good kiter, and regular here:) Never heard him whinging:)

Just got back from Adam Hills show to diversify otherwise so boring week...

See, all shows in Perth are sold out. What this tells me is that ppl are in a need for some entertainment and fun. And are willing to pay for it.

The proof for that was also 20km long line of cars on the last Air Show.
Or zillion ppl on the last Red Bull Air race.

There are many, many more examples. Btw 2000 shows per year in Syd Opera H.

Like Adam said tonight: Ppl are exited that actually someone did come here!

Yep, "You got to touch the Frog man!" - Adam Hills, 05/05/20013, Perth

Or, "I like Claremont, what is left of it." - Dame Edna, 01/02/2013, Perth

The Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) most recent global liveability report[1] shows cities in Australia, Canada, Austria, Finland and New Zealand as the ideal destinations, thanks to a widespread availability of goods and services, low personal risk, and an effective infrastructure. It does not take into account climate or the cost of living as a factor in 'liveability.'
Their August 2012 report placed Melbourne, Australia as the most livable city in the world,
Other Australian cities also ranked highly in the survey, with Adelaide holding equal 5th position, Sydney was at 7th position and Perth at 9th.

Based on everyone's responses I have compiled some highly objective statistics, please see below:

I thought this thread finished a week ago - the graph says it all.

I think you have the graph wrong in relation to the Gold Coast and low breeds per capita!

The gold coast doesn't have a sun set over the beach. It just has shadows from those eyesour buildings. No character at all!
heaps better places in Queensland than that.Perth I would rate as the best capital city for out door activitys due to its mediterananean climate and vast open spaces!.

That's one of my projects and its not about reducing workforce, it's about maximizing up time and productivity of the trucks.

and reducing workforce

Not true, it's a shift from machine operators, to planners, remote operators and tech maintenance. Less FIFO, more city centric. (Reality, people want to live in cities)

Have to endorse this being close to it also, automation is not about reducing workforce, its about productivity. Don't be afraid of the coming automation change to trucks, trains and drones. People end up with better jobs overall, and a healthier life. Did mass production put people everyone out of work? No. Did computers put everyone out of work? No. As the workplace evolves, we take people from sh!t boring jobs and give them better, more interesting jobs. Its no different to the mechanisation of farming from manual labourers tilling the soil.

Yes, all of us are absolutely frustrated with there being no wind (this week excepted), so we vent our frustrations here. I feel a rant coming.....

What a mob of whingers, get over yourselves. No one is shooting at you, you don't have dysentery or malaria, nearly every single child born lives to adulthood, unemployment couldn't be much lower overall, there's no civil war, theres an almost free education for all to Year 12, a world class health system paid for on the whole by the government, an unemployment benefits system, you can vote in a free election, there are property rights and rule of law, women have equal rights to men, you can walk down the street without getting mugged or bashed, police actaully help you if you are in trouble without asking for cash.............face it you have it better than about 80% of humans on earth.... if you're having a bad time its your own frame, go somewhere else and do us a favour.

Love Perth, love the kiting when the winds blowing, and when its not, its what you make it. Kite on!

Haha Jim, I think I love you!
Mine site workforce is totally expanding whatever the pollies say, but the skills and roles are changing absolutely.
And this will be really hard for some people. But my experience is, when u have to, people adapt.

It's Darwin really.

Nicely said JimJones! Although, the more whinging from nobs like these, the less of them might be tempted to come over here, so maybe we should just encourage them to carry on..
