Best kiting is Aitutakia, best family activities is Rarotonga..
U going this summer?Summer can be windy, but not often reliable...and darn hot and sweaty...nice if its windy and you're in the water...

Hve fun, lovely place, great people and, if u get the wind, some of the nicest kiting you'll ever have in Aitutaki

Is there any months that are more reliable for wind in summer or winter?

In my ten years of operating trips to AIT there was considerable variability in wind volume and direction; some years all four tours had great wind, others not so...and at times all got a bit patchy....in general, and its in general, wind is more expectable in winter...say may through aug....but you can get wind in any season. Anticyclones provide favourable SE winds on their top edge as they go across the Pacific....but it does mean the wind often comes in cycles with 'dead' days in between...having said all that there are plenty of things to do on down days.
My impressions of kiting in raro are similar...with the caveat that the locations are more limited and a LOT busier with other tourism activities at the main spot of Muri Beach in Raro...really AIT and RAR are very different and if kiting is your main focus, I'd certainly recommend AIT....shallow warm clear lagoon with plenty of room and infrastructure pretty well organised to get you to the kitespots on the motu sandbars. Go have fun, but remember it ain't Brasil, Perth or FNQ with a big landmass to generate thermal winds....if u pm me an email address I can send you some pics/maps/locations...cheers

Been on family holiday in June Stayed at great place with only 4 x appartments with lap pool at front of Muri beach Was great spot for family and kited there As well Easy access to food / Local bus dose loop of island also stayed other side and kited but needs to be high tide and lot of coral boulders which stick up We also stayed AIT very costly for flights Stayed at 5 star resort which was amazing Hired Scooter to get around just for wife and I AIT is very pretty and worth seeing Also kited but bit of a pain unless you can hire your own boat tour Gide You basically have to stay out on island for the whole Day with nothing there They do provide lunch Not great spot for family / wife If you are going to AIT try get package accommodation with flights to AIT
