Just a reminder that the Redkite Charity Downwinder is on next Sunday the 17th
Come along and support what is an awesome event for an awesome charity.
Registration and details on Waksa's Website.
Prizes for those who raise the most
ermm.. then will be no downwinder....
You would think that possibly early december may be a good time to hold this event???
Wind/no wind, it doesn't matter.
This gig is about kiters raising some coin for a really great charity, supporting kids & teens through what must be a nightmare for them and their families.
Forget about how much wind we may or may not have, or the timing of the event, just make sure you're there with some $$ to donate for a great cause.
Due to forecast the Redkite Downwinder has been moved to the following Sunday, the 24th. Keep posted for more details.
Looking for someone to take my spot in the downwinder, I have raised some coin already (Gareth Hodges - everydayhero.com.au/events/event_has_finished/4833) but due to unforeseen circumstances cannot make it on Sunday.
I would like to "legitimise" my entry and ask someone to represent me in the race as it's a worthy cause and we need numbers to raise the profile of such a worthy charity.
Please PM if you're keen and I will ensure your name is put down in place of mine.
Many thanks
Gareth
Great sentiment there Gareth.
It was cancelled one other year due to lack of wind.
I did the run solo on another, more accomodating, day & let my contributors know that the 'hard yards' (ha ha) had been put in.
No-one complained.
Took a few pics to back up the thankyou/confirmation message out.
IMO. Collect the coin - if you want to be seriously straight about it then do it another day - or not!
Im sure those chipping in to make life a bit more pleasant for the kids living through a hell none of us can even contemplate wont mind either way.
CALL OUT - cmon Perth kiters. You can hardly call a metro downwinder a sacrifice. Come along - have an awesome group kite - meet some new kite buddies - and spend a day reflecting on the fact that you are ably-bodied & skilled enough to do something 99.99% of the population cant & the kids your are supporting may never have the opportunity of even attempting.
I don't think I'm up for the race itself but if the organizers would like a hand with anything on the day I'll be glad to help out...
REDKITE IS ON !!!!

Hope to register on the day as a Goldrider, as long as I don't get called out at last minute for work.
Looking like a green arrow tail wind all the way.
Heres hoping for a record turn out.
Cmon Perth kiters - it'll be a blast.
Race ur mates - or the whole field - OR make the most of every lump along the way and straggle in after hrs of kiting.
