Delta Lloyd Regatta includes Kiteboarding with the possible Tokyo 2020 Format

The Delta Lloyd Regatta in Medemblik, Netherlands, is one of the worlds biggest events for Olympic Classes.

The 2014 edition, held from May 21 to May 24, will include kiteboarding. The intention of the organizing authority is to use formats as recommended by the International Olympic Committee for a future inclusion of kiteboarding in the Olympic Games 2020.

This includes competition on short courses in heats, the idea is to compete in round robin systems ensuring that every sailor has a start every 30-40 minutes to give you a lot of time on the water.

Delta Lloyd offers an unique opportunity to be involved with the development of the possible Olympic format, gain experience on such courses, and collect important world ranking points.

The Organisers also plan to get ISAF approval to use this event as a direct qualifier for the ISAF Sailing World Cup Grand Final later this year.

The Regatta is open for men and women, and competition will be run either in an open fleet or, depending on womens entry, in separate starts for men and women.

Entry is limited to 20 sailors, so dont miss this unique opportunity !

Having been an Olympic athlete who competed on the world tour, the Delta Lloyd Regatta was always a fantastic event. The organisers always do an outstanding job and the wind is pretty good as well, but can be very cold some years.

Highly recommended to anyone who is interested!
