Went for a quick session this afternoon and found an unusual enemy. It was about 4ft and everything was going pretty well until I got nailed by a wave and dropped the kite in the drink. I tried to relaunch but seaweed had become entangled in the lines and was making it difficult, it looked like it was about to send the kite into an infinite loop. There was no way I could get the seaweed off so I pulled the safety. The seaweed also managed to jam the bar and lines making the safety useless. I was lucky enough in this case to have a wave swamp the kite and drag me back to the beach. Just thought I would share my experience. Could have been a lot worse...
Seaweed is not something I would usuallty try and avoid from a safety perspective.
Its a delicasy in Japan.
But then again,so is whale.
I know which one of the two I would want tangled in my lines.
I avoid seaweed like the plague; it just loves wrapping around your lines, then it takes on a life of its own and wants to drag you to a slow lonely death..........
some one put a towl on my lines when the kite was on the beach and got stuck in the bridels and the towl stayed up their for a good half hour while i was out kiteboarding. couldn't be bothered to land the kite and take it of
Seaweed is definitely not fun, especially when it's mixed in with a few foot of surf dropping on to your head...
