Although kiting for 11 yrs now it's always good to have a reminder on this stuff. 
Question? Why post the full pack down vid and not the hold the wing tips and sail back to shore method?
all beginners need to know its not always textbook, sometimes you have to make do in the situation before it gets worse, always have a back up plan if offshore, and for god sake don't be afraid to cut one loose if your drowning.

Good point here, having the brains to let go or not,
Had an instance approx 3 years ago when a storm came from the east,
I came in and advised a newbie not to go out along with a seasoned rider, as the front was working it's way against a solid seabreeze,
The wind just stopped then went 20/25 offshore
The newbie pulled the pin and swam in,
The seasoned kiter hung on and was out of sight in approx 20 mins
Had to call sea rescue, he said his kite cost him a load of money and that's why he didn't let go, I reckon he would of croaked it the distance he was offshore if we hadn't spotted him

Interesting to see very few brands doing the wingtip handles today,
The handles were useful back in the days when the only shape was no bridle pure C-shape. The handle placed on the wingtip next to the leading edge would allow to go forward while doing a self rescue sail.
Nowadays, most kites have bridles and are swept back. This means that the handle put on a wingtip will pull more downwind (sometimes even back stalling the kite while doing the sail). It's way easier to use the bridle system to control the power and have an efficient sail to come back to shore.
Also getting into position is way easier with the bridle. Just grab a front line, go to the opposite wingtip and start to put tension on the flying line you have in hand until you reach the bridle.
We have tested heaps of different scenarios with Christian and we found that using the bridle was the most efficient.
This one of the reason most brand dont have the handles anymore.

Would you say that kite company's have realised this or have we adjusted to what we've got, still reckon kites should have these options though, maybe not you race editions , I've self rescued on 2 occasions, both with sr points I wouldn't of liked to of held a bridal line in those winds, you'd of cut yourself up I reckon,
Most wouldn't know one or have been tutored on correct self rescues, for those that don't even if you watch a youtube clip it may help if all goes wrong
North Neo has rescue handles but have never used them fortunately. Kite relaunches so quick and easy never been properly smashed touch wood. Self rescued on the 5 line rebel many times but.
Easy, just enroll in some TAFE classes, as long as you pay the money the TAFE don't care.
