My light wind board (fat fish) floats like a log, with 4 FCS glass fins. Also heaps of fun for surfing (with leash).

Also have a LF Kite Skim board (google it for pics). Great fun too, but I don't take it out as often, certainly not in waves.

I'm really happy with my Axis 5'8 quad - apart from the paint job.

Brazil nuts you used to rip when you rode for Axis - remember seeing a photo of you sending tons of spray ... what happened?

That was never a production board was a one only , all the production ones was to heavy and no flex no life

Which size is your Vader? I have a 5'1 and love it after a couple of session. Just a tad too heavy IMO (compared with my previous Mulcoy 5'10).

I've switched to surfboard and loving it, using an old battered surfboard. Time to look into getting a proper one, so where do you guys mostly buy kite-surfboards ? There aren't that many on seabreeze/gumtree/ebay etc...

correct. There are not to many boards for sale. Seabreeze, gumtree , kiteshops, online and your local shaper.

cheers

My one is 5'5" (28.8lt). I like the weight as it doesn't get blown around when the wind is really up and it's stable when choppy. Best part about the Vader is that I can paddle it as well. One board for both!

Just got this as my other board lost a fin box.

Standard short board profile from local shaper Colin Earle - 5'7 x 18 1/8 x 2 1/4

Sticking with HPSB shapes for now and I really like this board - very lively, turns tight in the pocket, punts well. It's pretty light, hope it holds up.

I've just had my first few paddle surfs on this board the past couple of days. It's a little paddling machine, surprised how well it picks up onto waves. Super fun in the pocket. Genuine one board does all.

This is one I made. 6' x 20". Stringerless EPS epoxy. 6,6,6 top 6,6 bottom with a fin a deck patch all vacuum bagged. It weighs in at 3.4kg with fins, pad and leggie.
Art work is by my daughter.
I made another based on tomo evo 5'10" x 21" which was super easy to ride. This one is more high performance a bit trickier but yields results.
Im not a surfer but have ridden lots of boards of different shape and construction. This thing is a sweet ride through the chop the opposite of a tufflite I onced owned which would try to throw you off.

I'm with you Benny. I still haven't moved away from HPSB shapes for kiting. No need to with our wind.

Perth waves, albeit small. Tend to be dumpy sucky punchy little fkers. Not rolling or crumbling. Therefore boards with some rocker and shape, which suit sitting in the pocket or on steep faces work nicely. Don't really require any of these funny shaped things out there. No matter what the sales and marketing team say

Sure I like the hpsb shapes also. But I like my winter indo trips and Im a big boy so my fancy pants shaped board allows me to travel with a shorter board than a hpsb. Under that 1.9m that some airlines demand.

Homemade 4-8 Evo copy. Great for Swedish chop and windwaves up to 2m.

Making several more, 2 x4-10 and a 5-4 still in blank stage

No justification required mate, sick board and you shaped it yourself! That's awesome.

I am looking at a local shaper's take on the evo for myself (for surfing not kiting).

For kiting yeah. I have tried a heap of different stumpy shapes but standard/grom shorties suit me. Also I quickly get overpowered on boards with volume, which means no unhooking, can't stick to the right handers, etc.

BUT I am open to trying the Tomo shapes, provided the volume is low enough to ensure performance.
