Here are a few shots from a session with my Gopro the other day. Been playing around with a home made center line mount and am pretty happy with the shots.
Let me know what you think.

Keahi
Shame it is a little blurry because you have a serious stack of awesome shots there mate!!!,great carving and barrels too, what more would you want?
Cheers, the shots are a bit better quality then they look, they seemed to get worse on here. Still, i'm pretty stoked with the results
Great shots - looks like a good distance to get both you (very important) but also the scene.
Any chance you could post up a pic of your mount?
Nice - I love the shots of you in the shade!
That is an unusual perspective to see someone in the barrel from above.
The barrel with just the nose sticking out is awesome.
What's with the quality? Are they video still frames or stills?
Hey guys,
Glad everyone likes the shots.
For those wanting to see the mount here are a couple of pics below. The way I do it is something you should be careful with. It adds a bit of weight and causes the lines to spin in weird ways but the shots are worth it. Its the best angle I've found too.
The shots are stills and on my computer and the quality is heaps better but they just got worse when I put them on here. Also was shooting video and it fogged up so when I wiped the moisture off inside the housing it could have left some marks in there.
Cheers,
Keahi
Yep awesome shots, the cam is a nice distance away, so you not only get a good shot of the action but also what is happening with the waves in the background etc.
Board mounted cams are to close and kite mounted is to far away.
I like some of the shots from cameras on poles such as Corey's and Ry's but these ones give an even better perspective.
why not buy a normal line mount? can mount its up high like that, but the kite still flies perfect! are about $50. I just also put a couple zip ties on to ensure it doesnt fall off if i crash the kite.http://pointofviewcameras.com/kitehero-kite-line-mount.html
I get this angle
About the leg rope. It may not be something I recommend to everyone but it makes things a lot easier in the surf especially when strapless. You don't want to body drag back to the beach every time you come off. You be surprised at how many people use them. Surfboards don't seem have the slingshot effect back at you either as much as twin tips.
I have also done a few with a pole too but its hard to get the angles right at least with the line mount its always looking straight at you. The poles are great for tracking though.
The reason I didn't want a line mount is you get that twisting effect that distorts a lot of shots and makes most video hard to watch. Although my mount affects the kite a little, it still works fine and it makes the camera heaps more stable. Also it cost me nothing because I had the old bar and the mount already.
I have stuff to fix the fogging problem, just forgot to put it in that day.

Keahi
Hey get photos Keahi, how far up the line is the mount? its a nice distance on the shots, mostly people are too close or too far away with the fish eye.
Hey 14 good vid, its pretty busy out there in your line up taking the time out to beach land and then your mate tries to slam you on the take off
Dazza
Hi Keahi,
Thanks for the pics of your rig - a bit ghetto but definitely gets the job done! Nice work re purposing the old bar.
As for why use this mount rather than the retailed line mount, I think you will find the retail mount is significantly less stable than Keahi's mount.
Hi Keahi
great shots always enjoy watching you ride, just a quick one do you have any footage from Merimbula @ the corona classic the day you were going huge at short point i noticed you had the gopro then
cheers
Daz, if you look at the photos, it is probly about 3 or 4m up the line, there is one of the mount you should have seen.
Yea Galah is right. With the normal line mount, it seems to just twist way to much and this seems to stop it a fair bit. I'll post some footage in the future if I get a chance.
As for Merimbula, yea I got some cool stuff from it. I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
Cheers,
Keahi
