After a number of windy arvo's since the new buoys have gone in people still insist on riding through them right up to the sand...
Unless i seriously misunderstood the WASKA post on this issue, access to Melville will cease unless people heed the new DPI enforced regulations?
I fail to see what's so hard to understand people?
The guys throwing HP's and mobes on the waters edge, cool, we know you can cover your asses. But its the guys with less experience and skill who follow suit when they see all the good riders busting out inside the buoys.
Pat & Laurie - any chance of making this one a sticky or using that WAKSA post on the situation at Melville? At least until these new signs go up?
How about we make this one sticky for now, since it's got a more 'noticeable' title, and get WAKSA to post the details here as well.
The buoys are compliments of DPI Marine Safety. Signage from Melville council will follow.
For the benefit of those who may not know the buoys delineate an area, approx 50M from the shoreline, inside of which is a 'launch and land' zone only. Session kiting; ie kiting into or through the area and including learning; is prohibited. Signage will eventually make this obvious to all beach users.
Interested kiters should follow the beach user group discussion on the WAKSA website. see :

What we need also could do with there ..... Is a limit to where beginners can kite... A beginner zone downwind of the rest of the ppl that know what they are doing.....Nothing grinds my gears more than 1 end of the beach to the other end covered in dudes getting lessons ..... and they wonder why they get cut off ????
The people who are not upwind comfortably should be kiting down wind of the big kite eating ghost gum....hopefully this advice will be on the new signs, otherwise it will just have to be tribal law, either seems to work me thinks...we just need to self regulate what happens on the spot. And if you are a reckless ass and break someones line, then you should pay for a new set.....otherwise kite somewhere else.
I was once confused when the new buoys were put in place. I made a pic to make it easier to understand.
Dachopper you used to be a begginger no need to cut anyone off!
