Can't help myself want to share the stoke. I'm frothing out!
In an inexplicable stroke of mother natures blessings, she has formed a sand bar directly in front of the Kalpitiya kite camps that are located on the southern end of Kudawa beach.
In a super bonus, this years 'off season' winds are merely 18 knots in the morning and 22 knots afternoon.
And just to put the cherry on the cake, the off season direction is EXACTLY 90 degrees to the long edge of the lagoon sandbar.
This is 6 safety bay ponds lined up end to end in tropical 28 degrees.
Boom yeh!!
Happy 2017 all!

Sri Lankans are pretty tidy (mind they burn most of the rubbish).

When I was there that lagoon was heaving with people.......... lots of traffic! You got lucky!

Hey!
there is also another super spot, alas only for guests staying at The Rascals Kite Resort because it's directly in front of our premises. LOL
It is located in the channel coming out of Kalpitiya Lagoon, the wind sucks through nicely thanks to a Venturi effect, therefore it's waaay more stable than any lagoon in the area. That's why we built our resort here.
It is on the incomplete map below, where it says "Rascals", i'm a bit tight with time now to upload something more decent, but you can pm or emaii for more info www.rascalskiteresort.com

Swell and a SW wind during our winter. I reckon that bottom SW corner would be worth a look. Also keen to hear of any spots. From maps it looks like an average wave you could kite at Maaliyadda? Maybe a DW here :
