We have the phenomenon that every year happens. Surfers make room for the kitesurfers in Indonesia. This happens in May when wind is turning from Off-shore to Cross-onshore. Best Months are June and July and August.
Everyone knows that Sumatra has quality waves. From a left hander to the right hander and not to forget the A-frame. The left will always work. That is why we have more people kitesurfing finding the way to this little place what is already famous for its surfing.
I can describe the place as relaxed, beach-life, great wind, and a lot of fun on the waves. So enjoy!

One thing Yudi doesn't mention - his ability to get some of the best Sumatran coffee beans around....brought back 6kg last year - we could smell our bags coming off the plane

I'd like to say. No. This is not true!...... I have zero knowledge of Sumatra waves.
You dont piss in your suit and dont know about sumatran waves you were not a surfer before kiting were you?

Many years ago I did I dabbled. But never found the love. Too much waiting and not enough action for me. plus too much local hierachy bull**** goes on (or did back then)
I'm a mountain biker that saw somebody do a big jump and thought. "**** that looks a whole lot of fun"
And it was!.... the rest is history.
Some of the best surf in the world Nias, Memtawais, Krui, Esu few well known spots. The places I would go to now would be more kiteable waves specific and banda aceh does interest me but I wont be travelling there any time soon.
