Hi

I am looking to go to Vietnam after leaving Boracy in late April.

I know that will start to be the kiting off season in Vietnam but I read that Phan Rang in the off season you can kite from main beach with average of 20 knots. There is not much info about this beach in the off season.

Anyone able to confirm what Phan Rang like in the off season May/June/July?

Thanks, Shane

I have just come back from a few weeks there. I haven't been there in the off-season/summer, but I am told that the wind when it comes is a different direction compared to the peak season.

The lagoon area is affected by the tides as a low tide is very low and you can have many days of low tides.

Are you talking about My Hoa or the main beach in Phan Rang?

I have been told by a manager there that he can send out an email updating customers on whether there is a good week of wind and tides coming up, so maybe get in touch with them and see what they have to say? sorrentobeachclub.com/contact/

There are a few kite centres in My Hoa, so you can try contacting them as well.

Hay shane most the instructors from boracay go to sri lanka once the seasons done there.

Personally id rather go to vietnam with no or less wind then do that again.

So nice choice make sure you let us know how it goes.

Food and party > wind sometimes

Ps

Can you please rub my name off some of the walls in the pubs and clubs at bora for me

Rather then asking people wuestions about wind your better off getting the REAL DATA yourself. Just find an airport nearby to the location your questioning then check what its windrose is like or wind statistics are like. You can do that thru the countrys meteorlogical department (in australia the bom for example)

Anyways lets have a look shall we...

Just be aware EVERY SINGLE BLOODY KITESRESORT claims much higher winds all year round and then when you get theyre they exclaim how shocked this season is last season so much windier etc etc blah blah blah

Which doesnt matter tooo much when your just a punter on a holiday but when wind is your job its a completely different story so the last person i would talk to if i want an honest report on wind is anyone who has anything to do with kiteing.

For a fun test ask the DIVE RESORT how the wind will be then at exact same location ask the KITE RESORT hahahaha one will say theres never any wind and its offshore so visability is beutiful otherone will say balls to wall hurricanes even in our off season brobro

Just a rough guess from these results i would say youll get 30% kiteable wind speeds.... kiteable wind direction... thats another story... gotto know the lay of the land for that.

So yeah i know victory divers left white beach but maybe get yaself some diveing done first at boracay try get a dive done at yapakII very cool wreck dive and then if you get to vietnam and the winds **** just go scuba diving

Wish i was theyre with ya and doing the same trip
I owe the pirate bar a pack of marlboro lights and about 2 san miguel lites if ya wanna sort that out for me from 2012
