Crew,

it's looks like we might be good to go this Sunday for the 3rd Charity Downwinder for Redkite.

So far, there is just shy of $5,000 in the kitty for Redkite. 14 kiters have registered through the fund raising website - go here for more details: www.everydayhero.com.au/event/waksadownwinder2011 - and it looks like there's been one very busy kiter raising funds for this great organisation.

We will email all members within the next 36hrs with specific instructions for the event, but a rough outline (subject to change)

Registrations: from 1.00pm, adjacent to Brighton Rd kiosk, Scarborough beach
Bus leaves Scarborough approx 2.00pm.
Kiters launch from Leighton 2.30/2.45pm

Presentations & sausage sizzle @ Brighton Rd from 4.30/5.00pm.

For all members who haven't registered through the EDH site, we are asking for a minimum $25 donation to participate on the day. All funds donated will go directly to Redkite (of course).

We will have onshore back up & support boats on the water for the event.

Stay tuned for more details in coming days....

PS:

There's a 55' Samsung LCD TV on offer for the member who raises the most funds for Redkite; a new Shinn kite board for the member who is the best dressed on the day & for the team that raises the most funds, Lemons Cafes have donated a substantial meal voucher to feed the hungry masses.

WAKSA greatly appreciates the assistance and support from Lemons Cafes; Kite Surf SUP; The Good Guys - Osborne Park; Portside Marine; and Fremantle Volunteer Sea Rescue Group for their assistance in making this event possible.

The EDH website is showing that WAKSA members have collectively raised just over $6500 so far this year for Redkite - it looks like we are on track for $7000 this year which will give us a total of $30,000 since we began this event in 2009.

Thank you to all the individuals and teams for your combined work - Redkite are super stoked with our efforts so far.

Event details:

WAKSA will have marquees & registrations open from 12.30pm , on the lawns adjacent to Brighton Rd kiosk, Scarborough this Sunday 27th Nov.

Awesome day out.
Thanks WAKSA -
And to the guys who came along to run the rescue boat. Nice work.
Didnt get anywhere near thr expected 20 knots but I was still upwind at every stage on my 6M BWS Noise and 140 Sugarqube TT - except for one very holey section off Swanny that I just had to let slip by.

Wish I could have made it, sounds like it was fun.

I'm getting a bit jealous seeing my beloved Wahine (6'2 Pat Rawson) in someone else's hands, she has some nice curves and we had some good times together before the break up .
Good job on picking up the pieces and putting her back together Rich, hope it works out for the both of you.

P.S. Just a reminder guys, when you sign on for an organised downwinder make sure you sign off to save any confusion.

She's resting on his appendage whilst he strokes her, Tightlines, I think they're good.

Thanks to all who donated, took part, and organised.

I'm sure those families affected by cancer appreciate our efforts too.

Looking forward to next year already.

Thanks waksa, great organising, will be back for next years. I was amazed to see the rescue boats, just in case.
Light wind for most of the run, glad I didn't go any smaller than the 8, a 10 would of killed it for me, but a prediction of 20-30 knots ???? More like 13-18knots
Those nudists at swanny were a bit disturbing. I made an extra special effort not to drop the kite there
