The forecast this weekend still looks far from ideal - onshore wind and big swell. If conditions remain as forecast we will run a wave comp and postpone the State wave titles until later in the year.
Given the conditions the wave comp will be a shorter event, run during the best conditions of the day.
With regards to safety, the conditions mean the comp will be suited to riders who can handle big swell and strong wind. Competitors must assess the conditions for themselves - be sure they can handle themselves in the surf. Competitors must be able to self rescue in these conditions - if you go down in the line up it could be a long time before help arrives.
Divisions will include open mens, open womens and masters. This caters for all riders experienced enough for the conditions - anyone can enter the open division - juniors through to grand masters.
A final call will be made on Saturday morning, and details will be provided at the comp briefing on Saturday at Brighton Beach - 9.00am briefing for a possible 9.30am start. Keep an eye out for the WAKSA flags...
