Hi guys,

I've tried a few different systems but not all of them.
What do you guys like from your bar and why?
eg - adjustable width? Above the bar trim? Pull-pull trim? Clean lines? Recoil spring? chicken loop? safety etc

I'm particularly interested in those who a mixing bars and kites to get what they really want

Thanks

naiish universal long depower, easy to put back chicken loop safety system, i used it for my nrg liquid force, ride naish, ocean rodeo , ozone reo, cabrinha nomad . downside the depower line can worn out quick if is not clean of sand

zeeco has the best depower IMO out there so simple to use and grip is nice and soft too . has all the good stuff like swivel and under bar flaging and comes 4 or 5 line setup qr is easy to use and reset .I have done a lot of r and r and this is what came out on top for me .

I ride a Cabrinha Quicklink IDS, i like the plastic protective cover, reduces wear on the depower line, saying that i think the Ozone bar is very tidy, also being able to connect the depower line to the chicken loop for suicide is awesome. Combine these to bars and i think you got an awesome rig.

I like the Blade UNI bar best, its a comfy one bar for all kites with good CL and exceptional swivel.
The New Naish is a close second with memory foam making it super comfy to hold in long sessions.

NOT liking the 2012 Ozone Contact bars
The bloody depower stopped ball is forever getting tangled through the "y" and around the bar. It just always seems to be in the way.
It would be nice to be fully powered up all the time so it isn't an issue, but in the real world some depower is needed for those of us who dont have a full quiver blown up on the beach ready to go.

The stupid little magnets only last a few months before they rust out and are then totally useless

The older ozone bar has the depower rope extended past the stopper ball and connected back onto itself so nothing flops around and gets tangled.

Im going to have a go setting my 2 contact bars up like the older style.

Not liking the latest Cab 1x bar - too much to go wrong in the bar ends, check out 1 min 6seconds

The Naish bar has elongated the hole in the bar ends for width adjustment but can pull thru the plastic stoppers - ive done it

The Core bar - get a little bit of sand in the Twisty QR, and you got big problems.

All bars with hard plastic ends - to stab yourself or boards

Hmm I think im gonna have to become a Scientist to figure a bar out

I also dont like the hard plastic ends on one of my custom made bars

Im still waiting to see a kite manufacterer post how to reset a QR in 20+ knots, floating

intead of 12 knots on the beach...

i like lots of features from lots of different bars, going to make a custom one up one day, features I have found work best are,

Slingshot Big Swivel,
Best Depower strap
Double Depower ropes (not the super safe one flagger systems)
Slingshot Chicken Loop & ability to remove donkey flange, and hook leash on for suicide (if the **** hits the fan all my gear will be pinged)
Slingshot lines for ultimate confidence.

Still looking for a setup that works, IMO the current Best Bar just doesn't work for me, much preferred the slingshot

very happy with my airush bar
easy to adjust length
and the two main reasons
easy depower system
and easy to hit the safety in a fraction of a second

it's just a really clean obvious system
that said, I'm still a noob, so yet to see how it performs with serious freestyle kiting

Cabrinha make fantastic kites (almost as good as Ozone - ALMOST!), but their bars are crap IMO. That coil system is flacky at best and if you have long hair - ouch! The depower is also difficult to manage as you have to tug at the rope to depower, whereas the older style bars for my other kites (Fluid, HQ, Flysurfer) all have a single depower line and to power, you just pull it out and bing - it's powered! My favourite bar are the Flysurfer bars, cause they have three depower phases including the chicken loop QR.

Remember there are 2 Zeeko bars. The UDS and the Freestyle. The UDS is the Ultimate Depower System, and bar throw can be set on fly for short arms or Gorilla arms.

I bought some Wainman kites this year and have been really happy with the bar. I had Ozone kites last year and liked the bar so was searching for something similar but with a push away safety.

Things I Like :
- Above the bar trim cleat which is simple to operate even when the kite is very powered.
- Push-away release that is easy to reset. I am currently making the progression into unhooked tricks and am appreciating being able to grab above the loop without fear that it will eject.
- Above the bar ceramic swivel that works really well but like most I have issues with it not operating when its sandy etc.
- Soft bar ends that are like pillows.
- Removable Velcro donkeys dick
- Comfortable grip

Things people could possibly not like:

- As these kites are all round kites they aren't focused on any particular discipline. ( ie freestylers might like a bigger chicken loop )
- The lines are green and orange which might not be some peoples favourite colours.

I have only had the kites for a couple of months so I cant comment on the durability.
