Alright, so I tested removing the emergency key and it doesn't make a difference, the car door still opens. If I lock the door with the emergency key, only the driver door locks and if I try to lock all the doors prior to closing, they reopen when I close the door. Car is too damn smart for it's own good.
i tried this tonight and it worked . Hyundai santa fe 2010 highlander. took emergency key out , left main key in the car . locked doors with emergency key and could not open the doors via the buttons on the handles . So win now i just take the emergency key in my aqua pouch
Only other issue to consider is whether it enables the alarm. I.e. how remote the kiting location is and how likely your car is to be broken into. If it doesn't enable the alarm, you won't be aware of anyone breaking into the car through the alarm sounding.
