Ozone Edge for sale - one careful (or carefree?) owner, needs some repair, only been used once, in the surf

It hardly looks like there is any wind, how was he hoping to generate the speed necessary to keep up with the wave? I don't surf so would the surfer have had a chance to avoid the kite at the end of the run or has he done everyone a favour by punching through it and getting it out of the equation?

The surfer would have been packing bricks.

It looks like the surfer tried to pull off the wave but couldn't quite get there (too much speed).

Fark imagine if the surfer had stayed on the wave and gone through the lines at knee height.

Just watched the full vid, those guys are nuts!

It looks like the kiter has pulled his QR a few tenths of a second before the surfer hit it, probably made a big difference to the outcome??

edit: and there is more wind than I first thought, but still not a lot, hence the big kite.

it could be Tam gillot a local kiter, seen him rip on the waves with chasta a snowkiter, both ozone riders, maybe not the smartest of things in underpowered conditions but youd have to give him 10 out of 10 for balls, both generally ride on tts, question is would you be brave enough to try

Neither would i! but i would sure as hell surf in those conditions before kiting it!

there is some footage from the previous swell of the same green boat nearly getting cleaned up again.

You would surf that! Well you are much better than me! I wouldn't and I have surfed since I was 5. That wave deserves total respect, I would be watching and admiring. I wish i could ride something like that though!

Well the wind angle is wack for kiting. That offshore to the wave face and the kite tries to pull you into the wave rather than being able to speed away. Would I kite that? Certainly not in the pit. But if the wind angle was better id play at the edge where the boats are. That looks like a nice kitable section.

i think you missed what i said, no way would i surf that (i wish i had the courage to though!). however i would surf it long before kiting it in those conditions

They show a surfer on the back of a jet ski checking his neck as if checking for blood and he looks like he could be the guy who went into the kite.

Maybe he got the lines on his neck?

the surfer is raimana van bastolear. he's a local and is the same bloke who famously was nearly wiped out by a jetski at chopes.
