this season has seen it's fair share of
"is it fun"
"is it hard"
"what stops you flying off into the air" Etc
but yesterday, stupid comments hit a new level -
old mate sits watching the kites for a few moments, and whilst scratching his chin, wisely remarks - " son, that looks fun and all, but what's with the big wing thing in the air? Wouldn't you just be better off riding the board??"
HHHHMMMMM....
Old Mate: "What's that, some kind of wind brake?"
Holy crap my board is gathering too much speed, deploy the wind brake!
"no mate, thats not a kite. My blow up doll is worn to the point of deformity and now I cant detach from her. Oh, and the board is not a board, its a tennis racket"
Well I was asked once, by a work mate. Is it alot better to go kiteboarding on windy days. All I could answere was, yes it does help a bit.
It`s like when my girlfriend once asked me if kiting means more to me than her. I mean the answere is obvious. Why else would it be 02:30 am and I`m on seabreeze and she`s asleep in my bed.
a friend's wife asked me the other day while we were sitting on the beach when it was 39 degrees, and dead still no wind: "where is your kite thinggy... how come you didn't bring it"... arghhh... well... because you need wind...... "ah, do you need a lot of wind to do it?" ... well, you need some for starters...
they say there's no such thing as a stupid question, but i just reckon there's lots of stupid people with lots of questions....
Heard this one last year from my girlfriend:
"Why are you going kite surfing again, wouldn't you rather spend time with me and my family"
Hard not to laugh and come up with an answer that would not see me single
