There's so many Duotones in the air these days. But what do you guys think of the bar?
I'm running the basic trust bar, but I don't like the high Y setup. I don't like the dangly red safety line, and I find it difficult to self land.
QUESTION. Can we fly our duotones on a low Y set up ? This way we can pick basically any bar on the market. But I'm wondering if this will change the flying characteristics of the kite. I'm assuming they are designed to be flown with the higher Y. (Rebels)
Some changes coming to the trust bar (and all duotone bars this season), and worth waiting for. The V setting are a product of the requirements of the bridal for the kite. with the click bar you can adjust the V to suit kites with lower V's,
A kite will always fly best on the bar its designed to fly on.
Will a high v kite fly on a low v bar? Yes, but it will always fly better, turn better, trim and flag out correctly on the correct bar.

There have been multiple threads over previous times regarding using low split bars with high split kites, effects on flying and easy conversions to bars. The easiest way to find out is to try it out by demoing a bar. Lots of bars now come high or low split capable, equipped with simple conversion rings.
The whole high split thing for me has always been the deal breaker when choosing kites for all the reasons you describe above.
I have an Ikon V4 control bar which for me ticks all boxes...
simple and solid design
maximum functionality
best available materials including lines.
It also comes equipped with high split and 5 line conversion options, and necessary components.
Interestingly first time i flew my new Neo SLS I used the high Y bar and was unimpressed, the following day used the low Y and felt like a different kite, for the better and love it.
Check out the Reedin dreamstick. Really beefed up bar with a super smooth swivel, very stiff chicken loop, all top shelf components and best thing is they come complete.
