Yesterday there were a few dogs running on the beach. I turned my back on the kite during setup for 1 second but when I turned back a puppy wiggling his tail on top of my kite. The result two holes and scratches on the canopy. I got so mad . This is a reminder to all. I asked the owner when people with kites are on the beach to keep his dog on a leash.

Not sure random dog owners read kite forums
Maybe ask in person next time

The usual anti-dog rant will no doubt follow

Where were you Jose? Some beaches are off leash and I always try to avoid them or be extra cautious. A lot of dog owners take no responsibility for their dog's actions, and present the same level of IQ as their dogs. Rather than sorting out the problem they tell their dog off.

PS: I own a dog also.

Never turn your back when there's dogs tear arsing around near your kite, they're dogs , the play, chase each other, cock their legs on stuff, chew bones, sniff bum holes and stuff, grab your kite and flip it over, usually scares them or wait till theymove along

Typical human nature. Blame someone else.

Why would you turn your back on your kite when you can see dogs about. Your fault dude and stop blaming others for your screw ups.

This comes up all the time. If dogs are allowed off the lead on the beach, and have always been, i reakon a few kiters arriving on the scene shouldnt change that.

Sure people need to look after their dogs, but most non kiters walking their dogs arent really aware of the risk dogs pose to kites so kiters should share a bit of responsibility here too. Also a few pin holes in a kite take 5 seconds to fix.... which is usually the worst result of dog stepping on a kite. wayward kites are a much bigger risk to dogs and their owners than the dogs are to us.

So next time theres a dog sniffing around your kite give him a pat not a kick :)

dear dog owners - It was an accident and that all it is. This is just a reminder message to share with the kite community. The kite has been repaired and it took me a few minutes. I was at Angle see main beach next to the river mouth. cheers

Unfortunately this happens too often nowadays as a result of dogs not been trained how to launch kites properly at a young age
