Yes, definitely a scam here: www.seabreeze.com.au/Classifieds/Kitesurfing-Kites/~4387h/2020-Cabrinha-Switchblade-12-metre.aspx

Here is how you can tell.

Download the images of the ad and upload them through Google image search www.google.com/imghp?hl=en by clicking the camera button.

All the images return the same ads from buy and sell kitesurfing Facebook groups in Europe. Here is an example:

Don't you have to pay to upload photos? And what's wrong with posting on multiple platforms?

One of my mates just 'purchased' that, and it's 'on it's way'... So I guess we'll see soon enough ... . Anyone else? Be honest haha

Well they could sell it multiple times too, joined SB in Nov 2021 another red flag.

Joined up to sell it. Still don't see the issue -- pretty tough settling used gear these days -- but I agree I'd want a secure payment option.

Does anyone actually ship from the US though? All but a couple of times I've tried to buy used from the US they've informed me that I'm "too far away". Bitch, you go to the Post office regardless of if it's the next state or the other side of the world.

Still leaning towards casting a wide net.

I've had great deals from genuinely nice guys that nobody in the forum knows, and I've had known shops with high post counts send "great condition" gear that's been flogged to death and had holes in that were never mentioned.

So my red flag tolerance might be a bit more .... tolerant than yours

Hey All,

We shut this down on the weekend, and another one too .. possibly same person. It's rare, been some time since we've had a scammer.

@gdownie, @cbulota - really appreciate your help on flushing this person out. Can I ask a favour? If you're able to email us, we welcome the info, and can deal with these people much faster. i.e. we check for support mails more than we check individual forums for posts about scammers!

Thanks

Seabreeze...there needs to be a link for ID to a licensee or visa etc card as backup. As fare as contacting you guys go i did try that once with guy who had sold item but left add on seabreeze of kept re posting it. Spoke with him on phone and he said he liked people calling him so he could say it was sold and chat.. 2nd time i contacted seabreeze they removed add when he didnt answer phone.
More security please.!!!

I agree. As Kamikuza mentioned, Ads with pictures need to be paid for. I'm willing to bet that all scammers are using VPN's and stolen credit cards to make this purchase otherwise they would reveal their real identity.

@Seabreeze Do you use 3D secure in your checkout process ? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3-D_Secure

Since we installed this feature on our two e-commerce websites, we have had zero frauds
