Hi,
Maybe asked before 100 times but cant find.
I am still beginner iko level3 and about 20 or 30 hours of kitesurfing through 2 summers. Going upwind still practicing turns but progressing more or less.

Did bought second hand kites 3 of them and dissapointed and figured that I need new or max 1 season used coase the ones i bought are not flyable.

So now summer is almost finished and I need something to continue practice becoase during autum and winter there is no rentals here in my area. (Dubrovnik Croatia)

I have an very good offer for North rebels and great offer for ozone edge all new. Maybe it is early to go for edge but as I am heavy guy 103kg/227lb so I like kites that pulls. Maybe Ill loose weight who knows but 92kg is real under that i doubt it.

Last year i bought harness leash and a second hand twintip rrd poison 138x42 wich I love.

If you are me and buying 2 peaces of new kites to cover winds from 15 to 35 in future even more, what sizes would you go for rebel or edge.

My guess was 13 for larger and 9 or 10

Sorry for such a long bulls...
And PS I have 3 kites to sell

I would sell your kites in the off-season (little to no wind) and use that to get yourself something above 14m in size, for your body weight. Wind ranges from 15 to 20knots you would need a 14m, above that maybe 12m, and above that again (25knots +) a 10 or 9m kite.
I think your board is ok, so you would be ok with that for now.
Go for Rebel, unless you want to get into more wake-style and wave-style of kiting, which the Edge is more renowned for.

I have a 13 and 10m edge below are my wind ranges. I'm 77 kg....... but experienced, so i can hold a good amount of power.

13m. underpowered 12-15 knots. powered 16-21 well powered 22-26
10m underpowered 15-18 powered 19-25 well powered 25-30

Edge is not the easiest kite to fly or learn on. It can overwhelm a newbie by the way it powers up with increased apparent wind speed. Its also harder to shut the power down.

If you want easier launching and easier flying characteristic look at lower aspect (short and Fat) kites. I would say 3 strut kites like the catalyst or enduro in the ozone line. But being 100kg you may want a 5 strut kite for rigidity.

Agreed. The Rebel would be a better choice than the Edge. Edges have a very niche market and are best for racers and experienced big air boosters.

You will also cover better wind ranges with the Rebel. with a 14 and 10m of those you would cover easily 18 to 35 knots days at your weight. 15 knots would be a bit just on a 14m Rebel unless you have a light wind specific board.

Thanks a lot.
These three used kites I have are
12 meter x4 naish 2004 main struneeds new bladder
19 meter speed3 flysurfer 2012 problem with bridles cant open (stays fluffy on tips)
16 meter rebel 2007 never used like new with tags from store but valves on bladers gone and bar is heavily used

So for light days 12 to 17 kt I could service 16m rebel but as heavier newbe I dont like light days. 18+ I like and in winter on Viganj Peljesac wich is windsurfing spot usualy blows over 20 with chop.

Rebel would be beter choice for me only offer for 13 and 10 with 1 bar is 2300 and for 13 and 9 edge with 2 bars is 1550 so with that good ofer I might go for ozone only I will consider enduro or reo

Is there big difference betwen Neo and Reo. I drove Neo few times and I like it. But never tried Reo

Are u sure???

Because.........This is how Ozone describes the edge

THE EDGE HAS A PEDIGREE UNLIKE AND UNSURPASSED BY ANY OTHER PERFORMANCE KITE TO DATE. THE EDGE, NOW IN ITS 8TH VERSION SINCE OZONE FIRST INTRODUCED THIS MODEL. THE EDGE HAS CONSISTENTLY PROVEN ITS “HOOKED IN” FREE RIDE PERFORMANCE, BIG AIR CAPABILITIES AND TAKEN MANY RIDERS TO THE TOP OF RACE PODIUMS AROUND THE WORLD.
Whether your passion is action packed old school hooked in freeride, big air, freeride foil boarding or racing hydrofoil boards or formula the Edge delivers high performance in all conditions. A stable yet highly efficient profile yields progressive power delivery and generous boost when you send it. This directly translates to all-round performance on a racecourse or just out cruising you local, thereby allowing you to point higher upwind and lower downwind, all while going faster!
Over the season we have fine-tuned the Edge working on new bridle configurations enhancing the new Edge V8 with a smoother feel on the bar and improved handling characteristics. The Edge V8 is incredibly predictable, learning new big air moves or nailing those foil board and race board tacks has never been easier. The Edge V8 has been designed using our new highly advanced custom built CAD software, we do not use the software most other brands use. Our designers are able to work with parameters specifically formulated based on our many years of experience, to calculate flexible wings.
The Edge V8 incorporates optimised layout of segments and balanced strut positioning resulting in a clean profile and canopy throughout angle of attack changes. Like all Ozone kites the Edge is superbly balanced, giving it class winning stability and performance. The Edge V8 is constructed with quality Teijin D2 and Teijin Dacron providing a crisper feel and a stronger kite.
A low-drag pulley-less bridle system is achieved through optimised load distribution into the attachment points. The bridles are spliced using high quality Aramid line, which is 50% thinner than our standard bridle line giving the Edge a turbo charged feel. Combined with our Race Control System and Race Flying Lines the Edge truly is a winning package.
The Edge V8 size range is expansive, with 5m through to 19m this allows riders to choose exactly the quiver they want of the kite size they need in a race regatta or for freeride mega boosting on high wind days. In gusty or turbulent wind the Edge will be easier to use and handle in both free ride and race situations when compared to the Chrono and R1.
We recommend that all intermediate riders use the Edge before considering moving to a foil kite for free riding or racing.

Great advice from Plummet and Christian.

If it's pull ur after, u won't get much better than the edge. Agree with the guys though, there are better kites to learn on.

If u like the Neo I would say it has more bottom end pull than the Reo which might be an advantage for you.

Great kite, turns on a dime and surprisingly good boost for a 3 strut kite

I am 80 kg and learnt on a 10 metre ozone reo.

Always intended to get into the surf and coming from a windsurfing background where you needed to downsize when the wind increased by 10 to 15 knots I was amazed how good the Reo was with its massive depower.

Now I have learnt since that the depower does effect your turning but when your learning in your first year I would flog one kite until you have reasonable ability.

When I got a smaller 7 metre Reo I appreciated having the right kite size for conditions.

A 7metre in 25 to 30 knots is so much better than a 10 metre depowered.

Your first year is all about learning and a better gear is really a waste of money at this stage of your adventure
